I worked the evening shift yesterday. I am going to do the same this evening. It was about 9:40 pm when I got home. So I had a snack and took my meds, including my insulin. I went to bed around 11 and went to sleep pretty quick. Around 2:00 am I was awakened by a dream that I was having. I was dreaming that something was drastically wrong and I was having to check my blood sugar and it was terribly low. When I did wake up fully I was not feeling so good. I was shaking, sweating, and my vision was getting "sparkles". I very quickly went and checked my sugar and sure enough, it was 42!! I think that was pretty strange.

whenever I can't sleep and having nightmares and sweats, my BS is low. I have a few crackers (no salt) and something to drink (milk or similar, sometimes 1/2 glass of juice). It's almost as if my body woke me up before I get into trouble and not be able to awaken…strange for sure!

Sounds like you need a Hershey bar by your bed. Eat it first, then check your sugar. Either way, you win! Glad you are okay, jim

I sleep much lighter when my levels are lower. I sometimes get up and have a cup of milk or a mini whole wheat bagel or tortilla, then I sleep sounder. I think sometimes our minds and bodies have some pretty amazing ways to take care of us.
