I got hit with type 1 Diabetes in 1999. I still have problems keeping my levels under control. I was in the Hospital last month in a diabetic coma with my levels at 1017. I have to admit I am doing a better job of watching my levels now.

I'm not doing well these days. Plus I have been so busy looking for a new house and found one. So we move the end of the month. Sorry I have not been on in a while.

i'd love to know how the pump works. I have been on insulin now for about one month. I am due to go to my Doc next week. But here's what I have observed. My readings in the mornings are quite good and before bed at nights. But in between they are high.. 140- 180 and even up to 200. I am on 9 units of humolog and 12 lantus at night. My body feels weird almost like I am high sometimes ..my head feels light. Is it that these Units are too low ? I eat small amounts and I m eating right. Most of my plate is veg, 1 carb and there is meat,1 small fruit. i am not certain if that pump is even available here.

nzingha Have you had a visit with a dietician yet? From my understanding most people do not get pumps until after all other means of control have been exhausted. My numbers were higher then yours when I was put on a good meal plan by a dietician and withing a month I was off of my 40 units daily insulin. I have also dropped one glyburide.

go to the pump school at Medtronic it's free and will let you know what a pump can do ???

Thank you Harlen. I had a pump back in 2000 but lost my ins. and could not pay for my supplies out of pocket. Now I have ins. and told him I want to get back on a pump. I'm going to talk to my family Dr. about it. I'm hoping he willdo it for me.
