Have your doctor recommend a nutrition specialist and set up a diet plan that will work specifically for you. Keep in mind, as a diabetic you can't always eat whatever you want… you have to control not only your eating habits but your physical activity as well to maintain better Sugar Levels. Once on a healthy diet and an exercise program you will start to feel better, not only physically but mentally as well. Good luck with it all and let us know if you need any help obtaining your goals.

Eat in terms of fresh foods and whole foods and grains. Foods with more color are better for you than white types of foods. Examples would be sweet potatoes in place of white potatoes, brown rice or quinoa instead of white rice, but fiber and water are important also.
Start waliking, this will also help with weight and hunger. Exercise is an important part of helping to control your diabetes.
Be careful of fruits, both fresh and dried foods can raise your blood sugars. Although, moderation is the key to all eating and keeping it balanced, carbs and protiens, vitamin rich veggies, fiber, good fats and oils.
Sometimes, it really helps to ask your doctor for a referral to see a registered dietician when feasible.

Howdy Frank!
Eating a low carb diet (not a NO carb diet) is a key to both Blood Glucose (BG) control and weight control which gives you better control of your diabetes.

One of the best ways to control your BG is to use your glucometer to tell you what foods or drinks spike your BG and which do not.

Since your annonymous, I can't see your profile, and can't check what method you are using to try to control your BG levels. How are you trying to get control?
By your eating and exercise plan, or are you using some kind of medication?

My personal story with diabetes (DM) started 1n 1995 with oral antiglycemic medications (mainly Metformin), and in 2006 I needed to go on insulin. I was on insulin until the beginning of 2011 when I discovered my pancreas was putting out enough insulin that if I watched what I ate closely, I could have good BG#s without insulin. And during the same time frame I lost about 35 lbs while doing it. Losing the weight also helps me to shake my insulin resistance, so that the insulin my pancreas produces is utilized better.

Eating a little bit of everything is the way to go. But make sure that your eating plan includes very few carbohydrates at all.

Hi. Unfortunately carbs are not are friends and eating carbs will only make our sugar higher. Eating a little bit of everything that's good for us is a good idea but eating things that raise our sugar is not. I have a friend who has type two diabetes just like I do but she's been ignoring it and eating what she wants now she has to have three toes removed because she ignored her diabetes and continued to let her sugar run high. I know its hard but we must make those good food choices for our health.some diabetics can't control there diabetes with diet and excersice. Some like myself need extra help with pills or insulin. With the help of insulin I now can keep my sugars under what ever method you choose to control your diabetes make sure it is actually controled.take care of your self and eat small meals through out the day and see if this helps. Instead of eating 3 large meals eat small meals through out. My doctor sugested this to me. It helps keep hunger away. Give it a try and see if that works for you. Good luck and God bless!
