I'm new to this site ane there are so many words and terms I don't know. It's hard to understand some of the post when terms llike"bolus' are used. Does any one have a list of diabetic words and terms?

the best way to explain is there is two rates of insulin obsorption !! basal and bolus! a bolus injectio is a fast acting insulin and is obsorbed into the body fast ! this would be related to a fast acting insulin such as novo rapid!! a basal rate isis a stabliser and works as a stabliser through a period of 24 hours!! this type of mumbo jumbo is mostly related to type one diabetes; people who have to inject with two types of insulin!!

hope that helps!!

First I would like to say Welcome to DC ( Diabetic Connect )
I was the same way when I first came to this site, in fact I learn something new everyday. There are a lot of great people here and they don't mind you asking what they mean when they use a term you don't understand. And like I have seen others suggest, I google a lot of words. Check out the site that Gabby suggested, it will help also.
I hope you enjoy this site as much as I have. I've met a lot of really awesome people here that care about others.

Howdy Krysiall!
I have to admit that I quite frequently need to google a term or a phrase or a series of letters to understand some of the exchanges. I've been here on DC about 3 years and I am still learning new terms and things. There are medical dictionaries which are available on the internet, should you choose to google those and download them.

But I like just googling a term because it leads me in directions that I wouldn't have gone with a dictionary. I've learned a heck of a lot that way.

I am not laghing at you just that I was the same way when I first started .

I found you learn as you go. I had to look up Bolus..I had no clue.
Some are easier than others like BS is Blood Sugar, DC is Diabetes Connect.
If you don't know why or what something means ask someone and will tell you.

When I see some term I don't understand, I just do a search on google and "Voila!" no more mystery!…I find it especially helpful with those texting abbreviations since I don't text. Welcome to the site!
