After 4 years of Dr. trying to figure out what amount and type of insulin and readings of A1C at 13, they finally figured out I am a type 1. Insulin for the rest of my life, great. Thet want to see if they can get me a pump appoved. Does anyone know about these? I am scared and don't want that. Would rather do 4 shots a day.

I am not only type 2 dibetic, I am in End Stage Renal Failure…Ask you Doctor if a renal diet might help lower your A1C, on renal diet my A1C dropped from 12.8 to 7.4 in a 90 days period…My A1C is now a constant 7.0 remember ask you doctor…

I've had type 1 for 35+ years now and have been doing multiple (4) shots/day. That was working fine up until a year ago when I started having scary morning lows. I'm now working with an endocrinologist trying to find the right carb/insulin ratio for me but because of widely varying BG levels, may wind up going on the pump. Most people here are very positive about the pump, so that is reassuring. I'll keep you posted with my progress and you let me know how you're doing, OK?

The pump is great I love my pump If I got to have D the pump is for me much better then shots and keeps the BS inline real good .
Do the pump school online at medtronic even if you dont get one of there pumps it will help you understand whats going on .

Thank you for your reply. I can't imagine taking that many shots. I will reas up on it. Do you still have to test your sugar all the time? How does pump know when you need a dose?

Hi. I'm type two but I also have to take shots. One in the morning with my 24 hour insulin and more shots after meals with a different insulin. Many people really love having the pump. I just take my shots. I really don't mind them, or I'm used to it now. Its really scarey at first but soon it will become like second nature. If you do go to the pump it will free you up from having to take the shots! I guess its really a personal choice. Hang in there! It does get better. I know its very tough when your first diagnosed learn as much as possiable because knowledge is power! I wish you the very best and take your time and reasearch the pump. It might be a good option but its all up to you and what you want. Take care and God bless!

Thank you for your kind words. I don't think I will ever get used to this ugly diease. It has killed every family member on my Mother's side of the family. They all had to have legs amputated. it scares me to death.
