Our new friend Kim, who writes the blog Texting My Pancreas (very clever name, by the way), is launching this great empowering project for people with diabetes.

We know that the daily grind of diabetes can get to any one of us. Here are Kim's own words:

"Everyone with diabetes struggles at one time or another. Validation and community have the ability to lighten the emotional load that diabetes can place on us.

"That's where this project comes in. Tell us your stories. Show others what living with diabetes is really like - no sugar-coating. Talk about the tough stuff. Show us how you've dealt with it. Let others see their own struggles and feelings through your words.

"Show others that there can be light after the darkness; that they can get through the tough times."

So her battle cry is: You Can Do This.

She's inviting you to add your voice to the battle cry. Learn more by watching this video:

You can also visit her blog page here:

Please share your thoughts and comments. And be sure to let Kim know what you think and join in the project if you can.

Loved the article! I try so hard to maintain a healthy outlook on my diabetes and other ailments. I try to keep a smile on my face, even if my day is bad. No one should have to share pity with me,"It's my bad day!" I share with a friend or I journal it. Diabetes is tough but I still believe you deal the with the hand your dealt. I would love to join the the project and I think I will…Valentine Lady

It seems to focus on type 1...can we participate at type 2's?

Hi Gabby! Thanks for the question.

You Can Do This is by and for anyone affected by diabetes - type 1, type 2, LADA, caregivers… anyone. I hope you'll consider participating!

Yes, it looks great. I have to get my video camera out and get busy. I need to do one for this site too. I guess because I have never gone through what I would consider a really dark time with my diabetes, I am not sure what to share. But I imagine I can think of something....Thanks
