I was told by my doc not to eat popcorn. But I find so many recipes on this site. Can I still eat popcorn? and what kind, just to snack on.

It is fine to eat the popcorn just watch the carbs. Popcorn is one of my favorite foods and that is what I ate the most of when I was a kid. My doc would even bring it in to me when I was npo, and let me eat it cause it didn't bother me.

Really Mel, only your meter can answer that for you. You may be a person who can eat some popcorn without skyrocketing your Blood Glucose ("BG") but until you test how your body deals with Popcorn you cannot tell for sure.

To test any substance to eat or drink, take a BG reading before eating the popcorn ("baseline" reading). Then determine what is a recommended serving size (is usually on the container the popcorn comes in or look on a site which gives nutritional information of foods) Eat no more than the recommended serving size and then 2 hrs after eating ("postprandial"), take your BG# again. If your post prandial is 50 pts higher you have a choice. You can test again at another time with a smaller amount for your serving size, or if it is a lot over 50 points, it might be better to avoid it altogether.

It is recommended to do this with all your foods you eat regularly. You may want to put your results in a 3-ring binder for safe keeping so once you have done the test, you won't forget the resulets

Blessings to you and yours Mel!
