Sugars VS. Carbs

Which is better to monitor per meal? Total carbs, or the sugar carbs?

15 carbs = 1 point basically. 4 pts for each meal, and 1 pt for snacks (2 per day). I round up when more than 3 carbs to the next point.

Thank you everyone. I used to track the sugars, but the hospital put me on a constant carb diet when I was released. I appreciate the info!

I monitor total carbs.

However, sugar carbs are an important thing to watch, because the sugars raise your BG#s higher, faster.

The "net carbs" game is perhaps a sales ploy to induce people with diabetes to purchase a product like pasta.
