I'm 17 years old and on march 28th 2011 I just found out that I have type 2. The weird thing is that my older sister has the same thing but she had it for eight years and my little brother just got tested too see if he would get it. And the results were that he would in the next six months I'm scared to death I don't know what to do?!!???

Yeah, first of all calm down. I was diagnosed when I was 12 years old with Type I. You have Type 2, watching what you eat and staying active is the best thing, like you would normally do if you didn't have diabetes. Plus it looks like you have older sister to guide you. Ask a lot of questions and work with your doctor, just don't shut down, communicate

Check with your local hospital. They will have a diabetes educator and nutritionist. They can get you started with basic info including how to eat. I'm a lot older then you but when I was diagnosed 2 years ago I sort of shut down. I mean I still did my everyday things but I couldn't wrap my mind around what was happening. I did pull myself together.
All you can do is take this one step at a time. Get to the diabetes educator first. That can get you started. There's a bunch of us here that are happy to listen and share with you what we can. I know this place has been a bug help to me and I hope to you.
