Now sweet pototoe fries is something new for me. I love sweet potatoes. I am wondering if the fries would be okay to eat? I ate some the other nite, they were baked not fried. They were dellicious. That is something I could get use to. I didn't over do it though. I had about 20 stripes (different lengths) of course. LOL. great with chicken.

Sooo much fiber and the starch in these do not spike blood sugars. Baked is the only way we eat these many ways. Love them!

I cut them in thin wedges and bake with little olive oil, a just a slight dusting of salt.
Oven 375 till crusty brown. I do put mine on parchment paper so they crisp and do not stick. #2 recipe: Also, I thinly slice them and layer them with a white lo fat cheese and whipped butter ( a little), salt and pepper, and 1/4 cup of fat free half and half, and minced garlic (2 cloves), and small thinly sliced onion. Bake at 375 till bubbly, slightly browned and tender. Let cool a little while and enjoy! PORTION control~ with green beans, baked porkchop or other protein and green side. Enjoy!

I just bought sweet potatoes at the flea market this morning. I like to slice them into fry shape, coat them lightly with oil and sprinkle with herbs and parmesan, then bake at 350 degrees for about a half hour (time depends on how large/small your pieces are) Much healthier than deep fried. You can do the same thing with regular potatoes too but the sweet potatoes, I believe are a healthier alternative.

My favorite brand of processed frozen sweet potato fries is Ore-ida sweet potato fries. I used to eat them all the time, but gave those up, when I gave up carbs. :(

I just posted my favorite baked sweet potato fry recipe here in the recipe section. I like them with barbequed meats and cole slaw.

Being baked was good. They are yummy, full of fiber, and other good stuff. You were so smart to limit your portion. I have a hard time with something so good.

Sweet potato fries are a weakness, they are so yummy.
There is a recipe for Sweet Potato Chips , which are oven baked in the recipes

Not that I should be leading you guys astray, but I found Sweet Tater Tots at super WalMart. I use my Presto Pizzazz (pizza baker) to cook all my formerly fried stuff. It has been well worth the $50 I spent on it in March, I've gotten that much use out of it already. Plus, my 25 year old son eats pizza at least every other day, and this keeps him from heating up the whole house with the oven in the summer.

olh and i do them myself..try not to use processed or pre-pared frozen stuff..like to cook my own foods!

on sweet potatoes do you just peel and slice them yourself and season them. That would be better. It is very hard to get away from processed foods. I do my best but it can get very expensive and I don't have that kind of money. But i do buy the sweet potatoe and cook them. I love them.

Satinysunnie~~ Here's how I cook a sweet potato. Scrub the potato so it's clean, poke a few holes (w/a dinner fork) & put them into the oven set @:325. for (approx) 15-20 mins. or until fork tender. Or if your craving is that bad, prepare the potato the same way, and nuke it for (approx) 5-10 mins. depending on the size. As for the skin, I know some people who eat it, but for me personally, I usually don't.

when I get around to baking the fries, that is how I wlll do them too. Sweet potatoes just taste so good, to me, they don't really need much seasoning. I eat baked sweet potatoes all the time and on occasion when I make a sweet potato casserole I go easy on the brown sugar, and other incredibly fattening stuff, and it tastes just as good.

I tried them for the very first time a couple of weeks ago, and love them! Especially the Alexia brand…julienne sweet potato fries with chipotle seasoning! I went to their website and registered and then printed off 2 one dollar coupons too.
