Be careful everyone these caused me 7 months of having to heal and battle for my life. I only used these sandals for getting out of tub then go to bedroom normally but one day I had them on just long enough for my foot to stick to the sole it caused a layer of the bottom of my foot to pill off, infection got in,I contracted two viruses strep and staff infections plus lost a bone in my left foot. Once was more than enough to be mgre careful,my hope is to keep others from having to go through any of these things good luck.I thank God for getting me through all that and diabetic connect for giving us a placeto share with all.

Thanks for the warning. I am sorry you had so much to deal with. It must have been horrible to have wounds on your feet. My leg wounds were bad enough but at least they did not involve the soles of my feet. I had MRSA last year and am still rebuilding my immune system. Be careful of catching whatever colds, flues, etc that are going around. It will probably take you awahile to get your system built back up again.

I walk around indoors and out with rubber soled sandals everyday. I would of never though that they could cause problems. I am wearing them now because they feel great to me. I do wear them outside a lot, I have to be more careful now. take care of yourself and I am glad that you are doing better,

I don't know if flip-flops or shower slides count as your rubber soled sandals, but I was wearing a pair when I stepped down on the metal steps in front of my home, and since it was wet, my foot slid right out from under me, and fell down. I landed on my steps with my bottom. I hit so hard, it destroyed the steps, and felt like it cracked my tail bone. (That little part called the coxsixs.) It was a week before I could walk again, and almost two months for the pain in my backside to stop.
It almost happened again, so rather than getting a new set of steps, my dad built me a deck with a good strong rail to hold onto when I go up or down these new steps. Oh, and they also have strips of sandpaperlike material to prevent me from losing traction again.
Other than that, I've had no issues with those shoes.
A good life lesson for all of us to keep in mind how important taking care of our feet is, and the reminder to check them regularly for injuries we may have missed.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing Sam and I'm glad to hear you recuperated from that which must have been a nightmare for you! I'm going to call my Dad and tell him cause he wears those too! AND he's diabetic also. You know what they say… an ounce of prevention is worth an pound of cure!! I never even would have thought about sandals affecting you like that!! And DC has already been a lifesaver for me! I even hated computers till I found THIS site!! Thanks again Sam and stay healthy!! Ellen :)
