Appreciating the Military; Do we have any Veterans in the Community we can thank today?

This forum may not be intended for this subject, but I think its appropriate today. My Son-in-Law just spent a year in Afghanistan. He wasn't in the Military; he is a welder and a major portion of his job was in armor-plating vehicles and taking several pieces of blown-up equipment and welding them back together into one complete and functional piece of equipment. He saw, first hand, and experienced some of the same difficult conditions under which our men and women in uniform must function. If there are any Veterans out there, please identify yourselves so we can convey our appreciation! ;-)

Here Ma'am!! Desert Storm Vet here on a ship. Was also serving on order 9/11 in Pensacola for a bridge project as a Seabee. Served until I was diagnosed with T1 D.

The likes seem to be displaying correctly for me right now, so I don't have much to go on. Next time you see the problem, will you send me or John a message directly? We'll investigate right away.

Thank you for the reply sorry about your Husband Korea was quiet a place to be and at the time a place to be away from we landed troops on the beach and also picked them back up and took them other places it is something to remember on Memorial Day and when vets get together and talk about the places they have been and saw while they were there everything has changed so much anymore

I hear you there, J! My husband wouldn't talk about his time in Korea, so I knew it must have been a pretty rough tour.

Hi Auntie M234,

How you doing! I see a few counseling clients through a program for veterans, and it hs really opened my eyes to what they are dealing with. Difficult conditions both while they are deployed, but also after they return. I am not a Vet but have tremendous respect for our armed forces.

I'm glad you started this discussion. I hope you are having a good week.

Gary

Dear Steam hammer: Thanks for your post. I agree with you wholeheartedly, and that is something that I've been doing for awhile now. I love going up to a member of the Armed Services, or a Veteran, to express my thanks! I can't possibly know for sure what each and everyone in our Armed Services have experienced, are still experiencing, in their service to our Country. I DO know that nothing I could say or do will ever be sufficient to express my gratitude. God Bless, and love to all of those who serve!

My son, Mike, and his wife, Elaine, are both career Navy. My son has been to Iraq four times, and to some of the other war zones. I'll be glad when both of them are home for good. I don't ask what they do, since I was told if they told me anything, they'd have to shoot me. I just wanted to know how their days went! LOL ))))))))))))))) AuntieM thanks for caring and remembering as we all should. God bless.

My dad was in WW2 also. I wasn't picked for the draft during the Vietnam era, but came mighty close in the draft lottery one year. I have 3 sons who served in the military (pic of us 4 together in 2004 in my pictures on my profile). One son, behind me, is no longer in the NV Ntl Guard. One is in the Navy now in jacksonville
FL, and the other is in a JrROTC uniform is now in the Army reserves in Iowa
