I have been sick lately with cold/allergies. I have not felt like eating or doing much of anything since I've had this and my blood sugar have been running high. I need new tips to help kept it down. What do you guys do when your sick to keep your sugar from going crazy?

Hope you are feeling better today.
I am on day 3 of a nasty cold. So far my BG has stayed in a good range by eating snacks every 3-4 hrs, if I am awake. Since nothing has any taste I am using up some protein bars I didn't like the taste of. They have between 20-28 grams of carbs and 7-15 grams of protein. Also been eating my salad. Last January and February the cold/virus raised my BG no matter what I did.

Hi. I've noticed when I'm ill or in pain my blood sugar will go crazy! I try and eat correctly and remember my diabetes during these times. When I was in pain from getting spianal injections my sugar shot up even though I ate right. I had to make sure and take my insulin on time. I also have the option of adjusting my second insulin depending on my numbers and that usually does the trick for me. I'm a sliding scale on the second insulin. If you do not take insulin, id ask my doctor what he suggests to do during those times. Perhaps he has some ideas. I wish you the best! God bless!

Earlier this year I got an upper respiratory infection. This was the first time I handled my sugar really well. Like you I didn't even want to think about eating. So I got power aid. Several of them in sugar free and a couple with sugar. You want to keep sipping on liquid to keep from getting dehydrated. I check my sugar every few hours. If it starts to get low I drink maybe 4 ounces of the sugar drink. It worked very well until I could manage to eat.

I eat chicken soup and drink lots of fluids. I also stay in close contact with my doctor. God Bless and Stay Safe
