Hi Harlan, "How about diabetics in the move theatres." I am refering to diabetics going to the movies and not being able to bring their own snacks. I had a bad experience when I went to the movies where I was told that I could not bring my own things into the movies. The guard told me that he don't care if I was a diabetic and if I wanted to come into the theatre I would have to take my diabetic stuff out to my car. Needless to say I left that theatre never to return again. I carry a small pouch with me every where I go for emergencies, I had a small tangerine, some mints, and a few other things that I might need in case of having lows.

I always carry a "big" purse. Did the guard go through your purse? Thank goodness I've never had that problem. I wonder if that comes under our "diabetic rights"? Take care and God bless.

All women have to open their bags and purses to look in them so that you don't have any food or drinks in them.

I know I am late on this one, but when I go to the movies, they do not look in my purse and I always carry a big purse.

If I am not going through a metal detection NO ONE is putting their nose in my bag. Time to change theaters or rent Netflix. If he is denying you your diabetic items and you have paperwork saying that you are in fact a diabetic…I would take a trip to civil claims court and start suing. That's life threatening and discrimination. I would own that theater by the time the next Will Smith movie came out, lol

My boss was really helpful when I was diagnosed. One of my co-workers was diagnosed about the same time so we had a safety meeting and explained it. We informed everyone about lows and highs and the emotions that go along with it and what they could do to help. Now instead of having sugary snacks with staff meetings, we might have a veggie plate. Sometimes it's better to make sure someone around knows the problems that you could have. I do understand that some employers are more *** than the federal government but maybe go to a friend.
