I did it. I went for my A1C and now I have to wait to see what the outcome is. This is the flustrating time. I always think I am doing so well and find out I'm not in the 6 range yet. I've made a couple of changes in my eating and give a little more glucose at mealtime. This better work. I hate the fasting. I already have another prescription for another test in 3 months. They really plan ahead. I don't think they left anything out, urine, blood and stool, covers everything…right? Now bone density to go yet. Ah-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h (scream) I feel a little better after screaming.

Ditto, and ditto again, Flustrated - this site is better than any that I've looked at, and when someone writes about a Basque Crustless Quiche - I quickly find ways to go gluten-free, and still have a reasonable modicum of a REAL MEAL - gimme the crust, baby - and, Diabetic Connect will keep me informed, inline, and, most of all - supported. Best of luck to you, Flustrated, and when your fast is over - SAVOR THE FLAVOR, in the only way that we can - HEALTHY. ;)

Thank you all. I had more than one test that included fasting. Guess what? It was 7.1. I'm getting there. This site has helped me a lot. You people really know how to give info that helps. People helping people. Doctors don't understand but all of you do. Thank you.

Hmm.. that is weird.. when I go to my Dr. for a checkup, when they do the A1c, they have me wait, and in about ten minutes, they can tell me the results. Fasting for an A1c? They measure the average of your prior 90 days.. fasting has no affect on an A1c one way or the other. No offense, but there must be a detail you are leaving out about your test.
Still, regardless of why there are making you wait for the results, good luck on the outcome.

Hang in there. Try to up your activity level up as sometimes diet/medicine isn't enough. Diabetes really has a way of forcing you to be healthier (in a great way).
