I'm so excited to announce our latest contest!

We want you to make a video of yourself talking about what you love about Diabetic Connect. It will be a fun way to get to know each other and find out what everyone likes about the site.

All you have to do is make your video (let's keep them between 1 minute and 3 minutes long), then upload the video to YouTube. Then copy the link from YouTube and post your video here in the DC video section.

I will do my best to help anyone who needs some help with any of the upload process. Post your questions here and I'll try to answer them as quickly as I can.

I made a video showing how to upload a video. Here's the link:

The contest ends on June 20, 2011. We'll enter all the qualifying entries into a drawing for a $100 Walgreens Gift Card!

So don't miss out on your chance at a $100 to help with you supplies and prescription expenses! Get filming yourselves and let us know what you love about Diabetic Connect!

I just finished my Video for the contest. I finally got the chance to use my Movie maker software in Windows Live on my new laptop. I had alot of fun making it, took a few retakes!!! I will be entering my video later when my daughter can help me.

Good luck to all who enter. I won't be one of them.

Camera shy, Ray? :-)

In all seriousness, I'll be happy to do what I can to help anyone who needs technical help.

Can you help me grow hair? I seem to have more chins than a Hong Kong telephone directory.

Since when has that ever stopped you Ray?? We would love to see some of that stand up comedy come through.

Gabby: be careful what you wish for! I just bought a webcam and mic online so we'll be playing beat the clock to get it, use it and submit before the 20th … but I have an idea that just may bring some smiles. You've been warned!!! :)

I bought a webcam but not sure if it's going to arrive within 4 days. My Plan B is a powerpoint presentation turned to video but never did that before. It's like playing "beat the clock" to submit by deadline.

The day I submitted the video I got my new 16mp webcam w/ mic. UGH. Wish I could edit the URL for YouTube to resubmit with the better quality.

How would you go about uploading a video? My camera can take videos to, but I don't know how to post one.

kdroberts 2011-05-26 10:37:17 -0500 Report

What type of camera is it? You may be able to send it to YouTube right from the camera with a few simple clicks or tag a vid to automatically upload when you plug your camera into your computer. At worst you should be able to plug the camera into your computer and upload it manually to the YouTube website directly from the camera.

Do you know how to save the video file from your camera to your computer?

If so, you can then create an account at YouTube and upload your video there. (It may sound complicated but it's as easy as sending an attachment to an email.) Once your video is on YouTube, you can simply copy the web address and post that to our video section.

Here's a video that shows you how to do that:

I do save them to my computer. I didn't know that you would have to go thru You Tube. And I'm not real swift on copy and post so I guess I'll leave it to the computer generation. But thanks for the info. I look foward to seeing what others post.

You have to get in onto YouTube and then you can just paste in the link here for it. Unless things have changed, we only take YouTube videos.

I don't have access to video equipment, so I will be unable to compete.

I'd love to compete in a text-based contest based around the same idea.

GabbyPA 2011-05-25 12:45:54 -0500 Report

You don't even have a video on your cell phone??

jayabee52 2011-05-26 20:09:40 -0500 Report

Nope not as far as I know, even if I did, I have blocked the data plan cause I don't want to pay the extra $ for internet on the phone. So can't get there from here! I may call on my son, who has an I-phone or a friend to do it.

Now that I think of it, I'll need to check into that. It's a definite MAYBE!

Sounds great. Although I won't compete I am eager to see my DC friends on video… Camera!…Action!!!! :D
