Whenever I consider something that claims to do something that seems "too good to be true," I use the internet for reviews (pro and con) from others. On a website called scam.com, I found the following thread: http://www.scam.com/showthread.php?t=127843. We would all love to find the magic pill or potion or plan to make us young and healthy or whatever but the reality is … this doesn't appear to be it. Just remember what works (or doesn't) for one person doesn't for another.

When body weight is more than what is proportional to height (medical term: Ideal body weight), it would need more Insulin per pound for its metabolism therefore beta cells in pancreas would be stressed to produce more insulin. As we age the beta cells die at rate of 1.3% per year, having the stress on them they die even faster (in Diabetic at rate of 4.5% per year); unfortunately, these cells cant not be reproduced. Many of over weight people, specially middle aged, are in prediabetic stage for few years before it turns into diabetic and that is when they will find out.
The only way to find out if one is prediabetic is by testing blood sugar two hours after meal. For prediabetic patients, there are couple of good medications which actually helps them with weight and satiation. Glucophage is one of them which helps cells to work more efficiently with insulin, the side effect of this first line medication is weight loss of up to 10 lbs. The other one is Victoza which is another GLP1 category medication. Just like byetta, Victoza up-regulates the hormone which controls satiation and the effect is massive weight lost. Victoza is closer in structure (95%) to human natural GLP1 than Byetta, and also helps beta cells live longer. Currently, combination of Victoza and Glucophage is what is recommended for prediabetic and diabetic patients by many endochrinologists. This is the latest approach towards treatment, and many obese patients have been treated with just Victoza when there is no sign of insulin deficiency and have lost up to 30lbs. I hope the forwarded information is sufficient for you to start looking into medical avenues for solving your weight loss problems. Unfortunately, doctors don't address these issues till it becomes real problem, and they won't do anything unless they see you are educated and they have to keep up with you; so ask them for glucose tolerance test to see if you have 2 hours after meals spike in your glucose, then if you do follow up with specialist. By the way, I am health care professional myself.

Thank you very much. I am on Humalin R U-500 insulin and Metformin. Do I still need to ask my doctor about Glucophage and Victoza? Any information would be appreciated. I was using Herbalife twice a day and eating a salad with chicken or ham in the evening and I gained weight instead of losing it. All my friends lost but I gained. I am getting very depressed over all of this weight gain. Thanks

The only diet plan that I have found to work is the common sense diet of making sure to eat enough food (starvation won't help you lose weight), eat the right foods, eat the right portions of food, and maintain that weight with a commitment to staying on the right plan once it is working. So many people fall into yo-yo dieting by splurging "just this once" which becomes a habit. Food is actually fuel to the body and it's necessary to keep the body functioning. Any increase or decrease of calories/carbs will increase or decrease ones weight accordingly. Find the right plan that works for you without falling victim to the claims that you can melt fat while you sleep or with a wonder pill. True weight loss takes commitment and will only come off one pound at a time, the same way it was put on. Check out our sister affiliate site, obesityconnect.com for more information on what works and doesn't work; but realize that every body and everybody is different. The right diet for YOU is as YOU-nique as you are!!! Prayer may not help but it certainly won't hurt.
