How many get their meds at Walmart 's 4.00$ Medicines? I have 7 meds I can get on their list. Thisis a big help especially when you have a limited income.

I tried Wal-mart. Only one med qualified for the $4 generic program. Also, I was fighting every time I went for a refill. Because of my dosage of Lantus and the fact that it is dispensed as 5 pens to a box, I needed more than 5 pens per month, but less than 10, so they would only allow me one box per at a time on my refill, but would then have a problem when I tried to refill sooner than 30 days. They then told me I needed to use vials instead of pens. My response was that they had made the switch because they did not like stocking vials "just for one customer". I have switched back to K-mart. With my prescription plan, the cost is the same, much less hassle, much less stress, and no issues about the quantity of meds that I need for coverage for a month.

I used to get my generic RX's filled at WalMart but they wound up screwing up my refills once too often (e.g. filling for 30 vs 90 days, then counting that as one refill when they "corrected" it to 90 days). I now get my generics refilled through Sweetbay Supermarket's Pharmacy Healthy Saver Plus Program…much nicer service and not nearly so much waiting, nor any screw-ups and about the same price with no AGGRAVATION. Bye bye WalMart!

Their prices are good, but I no longer get meds there. Once I was the first one there when they opened and was told it would be 1 1/2hours. Other times when I bring them, "2 hours" I go to the local pharmacy…5-10 minutes, usually with an apology for taking so long.

I am able to pick up two of my medications at the low prices from Walmart. I get mine for three months because you can actually save two more dollars and that helps. We are very lucky here in Florida because we have numerous grocery and drug stores that offer meds for $4 and one that even has a list of antibiotics they will give you for free. There are numerous programs within our counties that offer assistance for those on fixed income where they only charge $1 to $2 per prescription.

I know that Walgreens also has the $4 prescribtion program. Not sure of what medications are all on it, but you can probably go to their website and get more information. I don't know if there are Walgreens in every state, but thought I would just pass that information along.

Hi all. Here in South Africa we have large diabetes sections within our major discount Pharmacies. They stock every conceivable product to help diabetics and even say where products come from . I always check out with my dietician. Very cheap over here bearing in mind that Rand 9 equals 1 US Dollar. When i go to States i have shopped in Walmart, but i am sorry to say that they just do not have the variety that we have over here. So if ever you visit us be sure to go to Dischem to have a look.
Regards
John Muir

Unfortunately, I can't get my 2 insulins thru the 4.00 program. I get one blood pressure pill there, but that's the only med of mine that is on that 4.00 program, and it's only for a week supply of it. I'm struggling with being able to afford my meds. I have meds waiting to be picked up. Without the money, they'll be sitting there awhile. This is the struggle I have at this time.

Knowing that my HMO's pharmacy coverage was changing in 2008, at the beginning of this year, I went to the doctor and asked her to print out a copy of each of my prescriptions.

I took the prescriptions to Walmart and asked them to price each for me.

Several were on the $4 program, however, because the doctor had prescribed slightly different dosages and a 100 day supply, I ended up paying slightly more for them. Even so, there was a considerable savings by me using Walmart instead of my HMO's pharmacy for several of the meds. I switched those over. I calculated that I saved $150 by doing so.

The few prescriptions that are for brand drugs (no generic equivalent exists) I kept with the HMO pharmacy as the co-pay for brand drugs is still less than what Walmart's pharmacy would have charged. That includes my insulin (Lantus).

It does pay to price your prescriptions, particularly if you are on multiple meds as most of us are.

Very true. I would either be dead, or something with as many as I take. I could not begin to pay for them…
My money would not go that far.
