I find myself craving snacks after I eat the evening meal. Beside some fruit, any ideas for snacks. I found that Pork Rinds are Carb free. I miss chocolate and the nightly bowl of cereal.

When I crave chocolate I usually have sugar free cocoa, popcorn is good for me I love something I can crunch. Also a big bowl of broccolli or cauliflower or mini carrots with lowfat dressing. Nuts, sugar free jello and some cool whip.

Something with some protein.

Popcorn has done well for me, within reason. Cheese (I love those little red Babybels), like cheddar etc. Mozzarella string cheese are great. I've had sugar free popsicles (you can have like 4 even and not get a spike) and nuts, etc.

If you look at your snacking to simply be "mini meals," you will have a whole new appreciation for what makes a good snack. There are so many options based on your taste buds and test buds. :)

Sometimes leftovers from other meals of the day or day before make good snacks. You can have as-is or doctor up a little depending on time, tastes, and talents. Watch your portions because you certainly don't need 500 calories more for your day but let's say you have some cooked chicken in the fridge? Whip up a mini chicken salad with mayo, onion, relish and whatever and roll up in lettuce leaves. Got some leftovers in the freezer? Nuke em in the microwave. That is as true for frozen soup or for frozen lasagna or ???.

I find my favorite snacks are cottage cheese and fruit, oatmeal, low-fat yogurt, sugar free puddings, pretzels, sun chips, protein shakes, hard boiled eggs, bran cereal, atkins bars, radishes, leftover veggies (sprinkle parmesan), english muffin pizza, low fat cheeses, lunch meats, fruit salad, or whatever I have in the house that satisfies my craving whether it's hot, cold, sweet, sour, spicy, salty or in between. There are a number of companies that put out 100 calorie snacks. You can indulge without the bulge.

Being on a diet or nutritional plan does NOT mean you can't eat. Add your calories, carbs, fat, protein, vitamins and don't go overboard in exceeding your allowances. The healthier your choices, the better for you but you don't have to live on salads and water.

Planning ahead sure sames time and trouble. Keep a list going and add to it as you discover more snack options that work for you and with you.

First think of what you like to eat. Then find a replacement, like instead of chips, go for something healthy and crunchy like vegies. Just an example. I am having the same trouble and ate something I shouldnt have today. Dont do that, you can try something you like and check your sugar two hours later and see if it changes for the worse then you know for sure if you can have it. My doc told me that. You can also make up your own snacks and try different things together. I found cabbage salad is real crunchy and ad a few vegies you like to it and dress it with red wine vinager..yummy
