Well Berrykins, the if you read the warnings which come with many of the sugar free candies, you will see that they can cause a "laxitive effect". Well I am one who has that effect visited upon me, so I avoid them like the plague (unless I am constipated — LoL!).

I get that effect with Splenda, too.

I also find Splenda on my no-no (gotta go gotta go) list. I tried it once and will not be consuming anything with Splenda. When given the choice of blue, pink or yellow I am definitely opting for a girl. :)

I used to use the pink too Ray.

I have a couple boxes of 100 packets. But I had decided to not use any sweetner of any kind because of the effect that sweet things have on people. If we taste something sweet, and the BG# doesn't rise, we seek to eat until the BG# comes up, often leading to overeating.

If I do eat something sweet, I limit it and eat something which does bring up my BG a bit. I had decided to do that about 6 mos ago, and I have lost about 20 lbs. So it seems to be working for me. I avoid anything but water for a drink.

Water is usual my beverage of choice. Once in awhile I will add a small bit of sugar free stuff. I have to avoid my Diet Dr. Pepper because it seems to make me want to eat more. Plus the caffiene in it makes my vision more blurry. Many of the sugar alcohols just seem to give the food a wierd taste to me, but no other effect. Maybe the taste keeps me from consuming enough to get the BR effect.
