what time do you try to do this? i dont have to take the shot but i take 15 pills a day and at various times,so i set my phone on the times i am scheduled to take them and eventually you get used to it and even though i am used to it i still keep it on my phone to remind me cause like others i am very busy with four grandkids running around with them and my three daughters it is very easy to forget. CONGRATES ON THE WEIGHT LOSS KEEP IT GOING!!!!!!!!!

I take Lantus too, twice a day because of the amount. I have trouble remembering too, basically I get busy doing something. Try taking it with other meds that you may have in the morning, or with a meal. I was told to take the shot originally at night cause it is a long lasting insulin and will help through the night. When you brush your teeth at bedtime, inject the insulin too.

The things to snack on are probably the things you would not necessarily associate with the MMMMmmmm good but with effort can be made that way. Grill your meet and roast some veggies on the grill, dust with olive oil and your favorite seasonings. I eat raw broccoli florets with a vinegar based dressing. I dip carrots in roasted pepper hummus. The more fiber, the better it is really. I also use portion controlled sugar free chocolate pudding cups. I have lost 14lbs since the middle of February and thats not much. We are supposed to nibble through the day vs big meals. My weight loss slowed when I slowed eating this way so I am back on the saddle.

Do you carry your phone with you? Have you tried programming a time on your phone to alert you to take your shot. Your phone with vibrate or set on alarm. This is what I do when I need to be reminded to do something. You can do until you get the habit of doing it, then it will become second natured.

You just have to make it a habit. It takes 21 days to make doing something a habit. Kudos to you on the weight loss, make it a habit, too!!!

I take 80 units of Lantus once daily at 9:30 pm, and I also take 20 units of Novolog at mealtimes. I set an alarm on my cell phone to go off at 9:30 every night, and the memo that pops up on the cell phone screen says "shoot me"..lol. I change the song about once a week so I don't get so bored with it that I don't hear it. Right now I have Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies". Anyway, the cell phone reminder works because I am always at home at that time of night, and I will hear the alarm and go get my shot right then. for those trying to lose weight, first you should know that the insulin is what is making it so hard. It causes weight gain, and of course an hour after you take your shot your mind convinces you that you are starving…and then there are the times you crash with the low blood sugar and you have to eat or drink something fast. I use the Great Value brand from walmart of the slim fast shakes. They are 180 calories, 45 from fat and they will bring you back up from a low sugar reading and satisfy the cravings caused by the insulin. I lost 97 lbs in a year doing just this. I was at 262 lbs, and now am at 165. I am 5'7" and a 49 year old woman so it was great to lose that much weight and I never tire of hearing how good I look…I hope everyone can get the results they want…it sucks that we have this damn disease, but we don't have to let it wreck us. Good luck to you all, and remember, set an alarm for your Lantus shots…it works.

I am on Lantus also. I take my shot in the mornings when I take my pills. When I took it at night, I forgot a lot of the time. There was always so much going on.
There are veggie that have 3 carbs and very few calories..or try drinking more water or sugar free drinks..they fill you up.

When I was on a single dose a day of lantus, I took it at night, right after my shower. Sat on the side of the bed and did it. I have my insulin stuff in a little zipper bag. I try to remember to put it on my pillow when i get up or sometime during the day. My doctor said an hour either way would not matter much. Now, instead of 1 shot at bedtime, I have a shot with b-fast and a shot with supper. Much to my wife's chagrin, I put 2 needles by my place every morning.
As far as what to eat, if it looks good, tastes good and when you bite into it you say, UMMMM…throw it away as fast as you can and run in the opposite direction! Seriously, I have been doing my eating by carbs. I allow my self 3 carb servings per meal. This is equal to 45 grams of carbohydrates. Remember that you need to use the portion size on the side of the product. I was at 265 am now down to 245 and want to get to 200 by my next birthday in April. I am walking everyday. I will get there.

Yes, I used to forget my once daily. I did do it once remembered. For me the problem was the time I was doing it. I used to do it at 9:00am. I would frequently forget and would have ti do it later. When I started also started injecting Novolog at meal time, I found that if I did my livermir (once daily insulin) at lunch time when the Novolog I would (almost always) remember.
Just a thought.
