Blurry vision may be caused by long standing high blood glucose numbers. Do you normally wear glasses? Once you get your BG#s under control, your vision can get blurry because the shape of the eyeball is changed and the focal length in the eyeball is affected. The "vitreous humor", the clear jelly like substance in your eyeball, absorbs high glucose and swells a bit. Because there are no blood vessels in the vitreous, the glucose falls much more slowly than does the BG level in the blood. After your BG#s are normalized for about 2 weeks, the eyeball pressure returns to normal.

It is at that time you want to get your eyes tested for prescription glasses, not before. Otherwise you will be wasting your money getting glasses.

I had blurry vision in 2000. but once I got my BG$s under better control, my vision cleared up.

So If you control your BG#s it will go away and not stay. If that is the reason for the blurry vision. I also had cataracts which completely blocked my vision in my left eye until I had surgery to correct it. I have a cataract in my right eye too but it is so small it is not troublesome at this time.

Yes please do take care of your self. I went to the doctor last week and my A1C was a 10.1 and I was feeling fine but my doctor put me on another med and said if it does not bring my blood sugar down i will have to take insulin but before then I started to make a change in my life by not drinking sodas and that include the diet ones. So I need all the motivation I can get to keep up my walking and diet to get my blood sugar under control. My eye doctor appointment camout get last month with no sugar in my eyes and I would like to keep it up. My mother was on dyalsis for a year before she pasted and I really want to do beeter about my health than I have been.
