Ok for about a year starting in nov 2009 thru dec 2010 I lost a whopping 35 lbs. Doc was very happy, sugars sarted leveling off. Went to doc 2 weeks ago what bad day, my weight went back up almost to what I lost, kinda figured something was up as my sugars seem to be bouncing all over. Iam stumped doc put me back on 15 mg of actos per day and said my body was resisting the insluin. been trying watch what eat, and carry a nutragrain bar with me @ work in case feel a little slugish like sugar may be dropping to low. what else can I do???????? He tells me not to walk to much as I have history of cellulitis and wear special made compression stockings. Iam on my feet all day at work as I work in retail, which what I think is alot of walking. Help any suggestions please.

I can't really tell you what to do as I was having the same problem and now I just can't take off the weight or exercise due to osteoarthritis(my lumbar is collapsing on itself)I have nerve damage. My sugar were running pretty good with diet and minimal exercise but here lately have been running pretty irregular. Try some of the things these other people have suggested and just know that you aren't the only one out there. I didn't mean to get on a kick about myself so I apologize. I wish you all the luck in the world and pray for nothing but good to come to you. Even just minimal exercise can sometimes help. Like stretches or chair exercise. I don't know, God Bless!!

I take metformin for my diabetes so I don't have any suggestions on your problem. But I will suggest that you ask your doctor for a refferal for a diabetic educator. I hope this suggestion helps. Good luck and God Bless.

I usually don’t post to people taking insulin. I don’t use it myself. So if you start eating the low carb vegetables and drink lots of water and cut back a lot on high carb starchy foods you may have to cut back on the insulin. I can’t tell you how and what to do, you need to figure out what works for you. I believe that drinking lots of water and eating lots of low carb vegetables helps with lowering insulin resistance. This is what I found worked for me.

Feb 2009 I was diagnosed with a fasting blood sugar of 366 and A1C of 14.1. Started to eat a salad every day at supper. Also started to eat lots of low carb vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, cucumbers, spinach, pickles and sauerkraut. Started to drink 8+ glasses of water every day.

I then bought a meter and started to test my blood sugar before and after each meal. At first I was testing 2 hours after each meal and when my numbers dropped a lot I started testing 1 hour after meals. I was testing 5-7 times a day. I cut back or eliminated foods that spiked my blood sugar more than 50 points after eating.

By testing I found that foods like bread and most foods made of grains along with pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, oatmeal, cereals, chips, crackers, cakes, cookies, candy, soda, fruits, fruit juices, milk and most foods that contain more than 5-6 net carbs per serving as found on the package label all spiked my blood sugar. Some people can cut back on these foods and some people like me have to stop eating them.

After about 6-8 weeks my blood sugar readings were almost normal levels. After 7 weeks I quit all meds and my numbers continued to get better and better. My A1C has remained below 6 for 2 years now.

I found by reducing and eliminating high carb starchy foods helped me a lot. By adding small amounts of chicken, beef, pork or a hard boiled egg to my meals helped reduce blood sugar spikes also.

Good luck

Almost forgot. Like you I also lost a lot of weight. Went from about 240 to 190 in a couple of months. Then over the last 2 years my weight has slowly gone up. A few pound here, five pounds there. I now weight about 220. I would like to get back down to about 200-210. I renewed my drivers license at about the time I weight 190 and I don’t think I looked to good. Kind of looked sickly. Also I don’t exercise much. Have been able to control with mainly diet. I keep telling myself I’m going to start an exercise program but so far haven’t found the motivation to start.

Test test test
When you do go low try not to eat a Bar have a little peanut butter you dont need a lot of carbs to bring your BS back up .
If you take a lot of carbs that you dont need you will gain
I know I did the same thing
When you feel low test.
Best wishes
