I was wondering if someone can give me tips or ideas on what i can eat that is simple and fast that will give me engery and also help with low blood sugars. Sometimes my numbers drop and i start to feel weak and if i wait to long i get really sleepy. I do know you can eat oranges and peanut butter. I can't eat oranges and i like peanut butter but i am wondering what else can i try?

What I was told to drink (from a paramedic) was a regular can of Coke (non diet) w/ regular table sugar mixed in w/it. Sounds really gross, but it does work!!

Most people I know advocate 'Smarties'. Just two of the little wrapped bundles work very well for a lot of people - about 15-20g of fast acting carbs.

Stay away from chocolate. The fat slows the sugar absorption too much.

I guess it's according on how low and how fast you're dropping but I don't like to use the candy, etc unless I have to. It just makes me feel so much worse. I keep peanut butter cheese crackers on hand at work for "emergencies" It's fast, convenient, and tastes good too. If I'm at home, I eat some cheese and saltine crackers. Just don't forget to eat the protein with your carbs so you won't get rebound lows. Also be mindful of your portions. When you've got a low, you will eat until you feel better. Eat, wait 15 minutes, then check again and repeat until you BS rises to an acceptable level.

I know this is silly but it works for me
I eat 5 to 15 raisins depending on who low I am at the time
Give it a shot ??
Best wishes

I always have glucose tablets on hand, I like the Fiber Plus bars..They have just enough carbs to raise my sugar, but they are low enough that they don't raise it too far. Bananas also work.

I also keep glucose tablets with me all the time. If I'm at home I drink a glass of orange juice. There is also a liquid glucose you can get at the drug store or Walmart, but I find it less conspicuous to eat a glucose tab. They say the liquid works faster though, so it's according to how fast your BS is dropping.

So far it's always happened to me at home (Im a stay at home mom so I'm here a lot). When it happens I drink a glass of low fat chocolate milk. I do carry glucose tablets with me should I have a problem wren I'm not home.

I use skittles candy or a small tube of cake decorting frosting. (don't use red or blue icing looks like blood or a low O2 level to an EMT should one be needed)

If my bs #'s are dropping and I am having all the classic signs of low blood sugar, disoriented, shaky, irritated, slightly dizzy, off my game, I drink some o.j. and/or regular coke…then ck my #'s, wait for 15 minutes and retest..If I don't have the fluids, I take 2 glouscose tablets, or hard candies. It brings me back up quickly.
