I have been on a vegan diet for 25 days now and lost 16 lbs so far but I have to honestly tell you I am craving a turkey subs something awful and for dessert I would love to have a big piece of apple pie. I do not want to back slide because I am afraid that my blood sugar levels will spike again and that I will feel bad as well. I pray that these feelings will pass because I have not felt this good in a very long time.

Sometimes Ii can analyze a craving and figure out wht about the food I really want. For example there is a place that serves french fries covered with cheese and sauted mushrooms and onions. I figured out it was the mushrooms I really wanted. Sauted mushrooms and onions are not nearly as bad for me as the whole dish. When I crave potato chips usually cucumber slices or jicama are a great substitute. They supply the crunch I am wanting. Maybe there is a safe substitute for you. Would warm apple slices with cinnamon satisfy the pie craving. I tried a jelly belly apple pie substitute with success. 1 apple flavoured and 1 cinnamon flavoured jelly belly. 2 carbs and satisfied the tase buds.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Sounds outstanding! I've never been able to go on an all vegan diet without craving meat, eventually. Breaking a lifelong (and perhaps evolutionary) habit is never going to be easy. Sounds like you have done a great job so far though.

How about a turkey sub with lots of veggies and mustard as the topping? Send the apple pie to me, as long as it is homemade! Subway offers a number of roll options that do not include the white bread. The other thing I do, is to have them cut it in thirds and put mustard on the one and leave the other two dry. That way you can re-wrap them tight when you get home and put the in the frig for the next 2 days, adding your own mustard. congratulations on the weight loss.

Hi! You really did answer your own question, didn't you :)
Try this idea-take a piece of paper and make 2 columns-one for Pros and one for Cons. Then list each Pro that you have for being on the Vegan diet, like the weight loss, feeling good, etc. On the Con side, list everything that would happen if you were not on the Vegan diet, the cravings, and anything else that you can think of thats bad if you were to stop.
Once you see each side, you will realize how much good you are doing yourself and you will be able to feel good about yourself and continue to fight the cravings.
I, for one, am proud of you for sticking to your guns and maintaining this, and I'm rooting for you to continue!
