My Doctor put me on a Kiogentic Diet? Have you heard of or tried this type of diet? It's high protein & very low crab's.

Congratulation Candiee on your pregnancy. Didn't your Doctor put you on a specific diet? I don't know what you would need for the baby & you but I am glad to share what I've learned so far & hopefully it will be of some help.

My Doctor wanted me to do the diet to lower the sugar level & fat in my blood/body. By reducing the sugar in take and carbs (60 grams or less per day) that turn into sugar I will be able to do this. My body will burn my already stored fat in my body, the best side effect of this I should loose weight.

Basically I am eating a high protein breakfast, then protein & veggies for the other meals. II bought some raw carrots, green peppers & celery which I cut up for snacks. If you add a dressing or some thing like that for a dip, you count the carbs in it also. I am cutting out sugar, using Spenda in my coffee instead but counting the cream of course.
The breads & butter was hard to give up especially the first week. Doing better on that now. i am still useing some oil & butter to stir fry vegetables, etc.

I am also charting what I eat & drink to help me keep track of what I have eaten for the day, as this is all new to me.

I've been eating smaller portions plus walking a little bit for exercise. I have lost 10 pounds in the last 14 days. Changing my habits to eat only when your hungry and not when your bored is really different. But I'm the only one that can make my self take care of me. So have to do it.

I have never heard of the diet, but I found a website that offers many recipes for it and some insight.

You are the first to bring this up in our forum and it will be interesting to see what information you find on it. Just make sure your doctor is watching your kidneys very closely while you are doing this. Our kidneys are at risk to start with and high protein can be an issue.

Hi Gabby,
Thanks for the website, I will check it out. It's expose to cause my own body to burn the stored fat, reducing the fat in the blood stream. I go this afternoon for a follow up. Charting what I eat & drink plus counting carbs.

It looks interesting. It seems to have been geared more toward a diet to help with Epilepsy but can be used for weight loss as well. The site I posted leads to more sites, so it will take some digging to get to what you need. When you find one that you really like, please post it for the rest of us to check out.
