Does this sight get a lot of people claiming to want to be helpful but ht turns out they are trying to sell us things? Excuse my skepticism but so often I get "friend requests" from people and it turns out that they saw mention of diabetes. They seem to see this as an open invitation to try to sell things. Really annoying.

I haven't had anyone like that on this site! Sorry you have, I imagine it's as bad as the telemarketers that call your house and try to sell you stuff and then hang up on you when you tell them you have no insurance!!! LOL Don't get discouraged from the site cause there are way more of us than them!! :) Ellen

If they email you with a sales pitch, just select the whole email, name, time and all, and copy to your clipboard. Then open John Crowley's profile (one of your first friends here) and paste it to an email to him. If it is a person who you accepted as a friend, there is a link to "remove from friends" beside the profile picture so that person cannot send you further emails

If you see something in a discussion, either red flag the discussion, or the specific post, and tell why you red flagged it in the popup window. Usually if it is on a weekday the folks will take care of it the next day, or maybe two. Usually on the weekends it takes until monday till they get to deleting the offending post.

Hello. That is a good question, and I am sure that that could happen, but I have never had that happen to me yet. I am sure as other members comment about this issue, you may see comments about someone trying to sell something. I would be interested in knowing that myself.
