Hey all! I'm new here. I'm in desperate need of a support system. This may or may not be the place. Apparently if I had a substance abuse problem there are all kinds of support groups in my little town. I'm just a diabetic so apparently there is no need for silly support groups here.

Hi There…this is an awesome place to be. No one judges you or corrects your spelling…Some other sites have really hateful people if you don't seem to fit their idea of a compliant diabetic…So welcome, we don't bite…unless you specifically request it! tina

Welcome to our little community! I'd say this is more than a silly support group… this is a caring and loving family with genuine friends who have been where you've been, are where you are, and going where you're going. We are in this together. Feel free to add me to your friend's list. Looking forward to hearing more from and about you. Let's chat!!!

Okay good point. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in June of 2009. Up until I had a hystorectimy 6 years ago my weight was fine. After the surgery I started gaining weight. It didnt bother be too much because I figured that once I was able to be active again I would lose the weight. That didn't happen. Dispite a good diet and exercise I continued to gain weight. Over a little less than two years later I stopped gaining (and haven't since) weightbut hd gained almost 80 pounds. I've been to dietitians and doctors but they dont seem to have a clue. I still watch my diet closely and exercise but have not been able tickler a pound.

Hello Cookie nice to meet you. What types of food do you eat on your diet? I had a partial hystorectomy ten years ago and I know about weight gain I have been up and down mostly up over the past ten years. How are your blood sugar levels? I am on a vegan diet by Dr. Neal Barnard that I started 22 days ago and so far I have lost fifteen pounds.

Hey Cookie. Welcome to this group. While I don't do a lot on here it is a great source of information, especially some great recipes. It helps if you identify the type of diabetes that you have since it greatly affects how one deals with it. Cheers and good luck!

Welcome to DC. Lots of us feel isolated before finding this place. I know how frustrated I was back when I was trying to learn about Diabetes to help my Mother-in-Law. Small town and pre internet. Now the need for knowledge and support is a little closer to home - I have been diagnosed with Diabetes. This site has a whole lot of helpful people.
