I'm a type 2 and very confused

In sept. I was told that I have type 2 dibetes and my numbers have been 230 down to 188 and so they put me on meds and have been adding to them.one doctor tells me if u get to 130 that would be good for u and then another doct tells me i have to be between 80 and 100. if i drop under 90 i start shaking really bad and very sick to my stomach. If i'm above 120 then I have proublems keeping food in me. I do 6 sm. meals aday and its mostly eggs, fish, backed chicken or turkey and fresh veggies. I have no idea what to do. I lost my insurance when my husband could work any more and doctors treat u differntly if u have no insurance,even at the free clinic.i dont now what to do anymore. I also have high cholestrol

I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 15 years now and I have had so many ups and downs more downs than anything with a variety of illness that have come up having high blood sugar levels. Until I discovered the vegan diet 21-day kickstart program I have been on it for 19 days now and my blood sugar levels having been running normal now. I was on insulin and Janumet I am now off of insulin and working my way to losing 50-60 lbs. so far I have lost 11 my goal is to be able to come Janumet and blood pressure as well. We have all gone through exactly what you are going through. You know, you can pull up so much information on carbs from the internet. This site has a lot of information on carbs also. Your cholestrol could be high because of the eggs, at least mine was and you probably need to walk a bit after your meals. Even though you do not have insurance, there are clinics that are willing to help you just call around, you might have to pay a small amount but it is worth it and some of them are free. In this economy there are so many people without insurance, you just have to keep trying to find a clinic. If not go the the County Hospital in your town and they will find you a doctor and help you. Get started before it is too late. I experienced exactly what you are in the BS numbers, I had to take less of the meds when the BS was too low, I also got shakey and still do if it gets too low. Just watch your intake of your meds, you also should have a snack in between the six meals if you BS is that low. Sometimes the snack keeps the bs from getting too low, at least that is the way it is for me.
also test after your meals (2 hours) and I test before my meals. But all in all your meds have a lot todo with it also. Good luck to you

I'm fairly new to this also. My husband has type 2 so I had to learn really fast how to feed him. Counting carbs is easy but you HAVE to read labels too. Basically anything green is free, grains are about 15 carbs for 1/2 cup( potatoes, rice, beans, corn) watch your serving size. Meats are usually ok but watch the fat. My husband is allowed 60 carbs per meal and it can add up fast but it's not that hard if you just think about eating healthy. Fruits are dangerous so limit it to 1/2 cup. Strawberries don't seem to be a problem . !/2 orange or 1/2 banana or sm. apple. I don't think everyone's body reacts the same to all foods so expewriment with a little at a time and watch your #'s. Speaking of numbers, we were told to keep BG below 140 but no bottom #. What do most of you attempt to keep your numbers at? I really don't know what's ideal and the Dr doesn't seem concerned as long as they stay below 140.

were do u find the calorie king book at. Its all so new to me. when my weight was 430 pounds I did not have diebties and now i'm 280 and the doctors say that I have been a diebetic for at least 6 or more yrs. Its scary. I have not figured out the carb counting yet been good at watching my sugars but carbs are hard to figure out.

thats simple this is how you count carbs you are allowed 30 for lunch meaning two slices of whole wheat bread with turkey is 30 carbs than you go to dinner again 30 carbs you can have 1/2 cup veggie meat and 1/3 cup starch which can be a pasta or if you want a slice of bread. breakfest again 30 carbs two peices of toast are 30 just look on the lable and it will say servivg size and the number should be 30 or no higher to stay on track i eat a nutragrain bar which is 27 carbs per serving you can have a snake like popcorn which you get 3cups so don't stress and let me know how you make out my info comes from a diabetic class i was attending after i got dianoised i have books on all that you can eat i call it my bible .

Boy do I know whaqt your going thrue ben there.
OK When I was first DX I was in the 1200s to 1800s when I got down to 250 I would get the shakes and drip all over ( It was bad) As I kepped working on it it got better and better ,Your bod is used to being high so when you get clost to good #'s your bod tels you your low .
It takes time to get there but not a lot of time I like to run 80 to 100 but as long as I dont go under 60 or over 135 I can live with it and as much as I know I am doing no harm to my bod.
You got to get to know how to count carbs this will save you a lot of stress.
I use a book cald The Calorie King, This book tells you how menny carbs are in what and how much you can have and yes I use a scale .
