Well the moving was done and New Doctors found for both him and myself. They are much more thurrow than the clinic we were going to. In the last six weeks there has been about eight Appointments and/or prociedures done. I had two appointments last week and an ultrsound done on my neck. I have a swelling on the right front of my neck that I had asked my NP about down at the other clinic. She said it is just a fatty tumor, nothing that anyone will do anything about. I told her that it affected my swallowing and breathing when I lay on my left side. Oh, It is nothing she said. My New Doctor at the health department where I now live was concerned enough that she had an appointment set up for an ultrasound within four working days. I had that done yesterday and left there at 11:30 am. By 4:00 yesterday afternoon The Nurse from the health department called me and told me that there is a definate mass in my neck and that I have an appointment for a biopsy next Wen. at 1:30 pm. I felt like someone had poured cold water in my face. Deep breath and let it out. OK Fine now. I have been a caregiver for about 30 years, so I refuse to let myself ride a downer. I have seen how much a positive attitude can do. On the other hand I have seen how a bad attitude can affect the outcome. I would not, however; be adverse to asking anyone who believes to say a prayer. I do believe in the "Power of Prayer" as I fully believe in God as my Lord and Savior. Thank You All.

I got the biopsy results. Not Cancer!!! Yippy! Now she told me that I need to have the nodules removed, but there is not a surgon that will see me because I have no insurance. I have read up on the treatment to shrink thyroid nodules and it is to take thyroid meds which work to reduce the size of the nodules. So I asked about that treatment since at least one nodule is causing me problems breathing at night and at times swallowing. She just repeated what she had told me about the surgen.
Oh well, at least it is not cancer.

The biopsy went well. I do know I will NEVER have Liposucktion, Never. LOL Now I wait and should know what's next by Monday. Thank you All for your prayers and comforting words.

was it needle biosy, surgical, or something else?

Continued prayers for a good report!

It was a needle biopsy. The Doctor and his Techs. were very nice. He nimbed my neck, but it was wearing off by the time he did the third biopsy needle or else he went farther than the numbing was. Today my neck and throat are sore and bruised and I look a bit like someone tried a new torture method on me. Partly because I am allergic to the glue on the large bandaid they used. LOL Really the pain is nowhere near as bad as it sounds though. Just a mild sore throat and the neck pain is more on the lines of a bruised muscle ache feeling.

My bride was allergic to almost every medical tape out there. The only thing they could use on her without breaking out was Duoderm. She could use paper tape too, but could only take it for 5 mins or so before she got red welts where the tape was.

I don't remember getting numbed for biopsy for my thyroid. Interesting.

Continued prayers for a good report!

VickieF 2011-04-22 16:44:15 -0500 Report

I certianly feel for her. Today the swelling is not as bad. The red welts from the bandaid they used still looks nasty. He numbed it from the left side so I guess that explains why I felt the last needle so much. LOL No matter that part at least is over.
Let's hope none of us have to go through it again or ever. And I guess as far as Biopsies go it is one of the least painful and intrusive. I can say that the reason I was and remain concerned so much is, because my Grandmother and my oler sister both had/have major thyroid issues. So some bad stuff runs in the family. You know though, it will be whatever it will be.

Well thank you for your concern for Jem, but she is no longer suffering in any way. She is with Jesus now.

I don't know if I should share this, but I had to undergo the needle biopsy again because the Dr didn't get enough the first time through. So I had to undergo it again. Neither time was all that bad for me.

Jayabee, I am so very glad that things turned out so well with your biopsy.I am sorry for your loss, while at the same time glad that your Jem is with God. May God continue to Bless You.

I will pray that you have a good outcome to your biopsy. I recently had a biopsy on a tumor that turned out to be cancerous. But I am positive I will have a good outcome. Stay positive, and believe in God. You will be fine.

Ok, I go to the hospital tomorrow for that darn biopsy. LOL My Brother asked me a few minutes ago, if it is going to hurt or did I know. Can anyone say Du, Du, Dummy, You don't ask someone a question like that until after the experiance. Then it is "I hope it didn't hurt to much." LOL It is a good thing that I am not that sensitive or it might make me really start worrying.

jayabee52 2011-04-19 18:15:57 -0500 Report

Well I had my thyroid biopsied twice by a needle biopsy and while it was not the most comfortable proceedure, it was certainly not painful. There was no anesthetic applied and I felt a "pinch" and pressure on my throat, I can't say it was painful. The hardest thing about the needle biopsies is that for a while, when the needle was in I was instructed to avoid swallowing.

If it is a biopsy done surgically, I would have no idea what the pain might be like.

VickieF 2011-04-20 07:35:30 -0500 Report

I guess that is the worst thing is not knowing . I hope it is just a needle biopsy. I would love to be in and out pretty fast. Thank you for sharing that with me Jayabee.

this is my first visit to this help sight, i have been diabetic for 24 years, the last 3 years years i have been taking it more serious. i have lost 4 toes so far and may lose more. i changed drs.the one left was just after the ins. new dr. has given me more info on how deal with my diabetes. oh yes along with diabetes comes ulcers which im dealing with now very painful but its healing slowly.

VickieF 2011-04-17 21:36:33 -0500 Report

Keep up with your new Dr. Dispatcher. It is nice finding one that ernestly wants to help. I am sorry you suffer from ulcers. by the way what type of ulcers (skin or Stumache). If skin I can only say to remember to use sterile tec. I know that most medical staff no longer do it, but it really does make a difference in how fast one heals. My Mom had a hole in between her little toe and the next one along with another hole in the top of her foot. She had been going to the hospital where she lived for three months and they were making no headway and could not understand why. I went down (several hundred miles) when my Dad had a stroke and started taking care of Mom (the hole between the toes was big enough for me to put my little finger in it up to the second knuckle) I took over Mom's wound care and using sterile tec. her foot was healed within six weeks.

Thank you All. Yes, I believe I moved to the right place at the right time. My old NP/PA is an old woman that has retired three times and has been begged to cme back to that clinic simply because they can not find anyone to replace her. She is a delightful woman, but well passed her retirement time. I do believe she told me that she was in her early 80's. She has some memorie problems and really should be enjoying her retirement. She still enjoys being active, so traveling would be an activity that I think she would enjoy. God Bless her.
I have moments when I get a little bit down and worried, but I refuse to let it get me down no matter what. I put it in the Lords hands and say with true meanning "Thy will be done Lord , not mine."
Thank You all again.

GabbyPA 2011-04-14 12:45:05 -0500 Report

It sounds like you moved to the right place and are getting the help that you need. That is good to hear and I would let your old doctor know if they find anything life threatening. Just to let him know so he won't "overlook" those things in someone else.

VickieF 2011-04-23 14:08:08 -0500 Report

Thank You Gabby, I will do just that. I also believe I moved to the right place at the right time.
Best Wishes,

Of course. Prayers coming for you. I love how doctors are so cavalier about some patients' problems. When my daughter was about 10, she had a giant cell tumor (non cancerous) of the index finger that made her finger quite fat. Her doctor told her she had a "fat finger" and nothing was wrong. As the finger continued to grow, we went to a specialist who diagnosed the tumor and had it removed by a hand surgeon. When my daughter was older, she went back to her original doctor, who didn't remember the fat finger comment. When the doctor commented on the scar, she blurted out that "some stupid doctor" had told her she just had a fat finger. He looked up in her records and found out that he was the stupid doctor. Sweet revenge - I wish everyone here could have seen his face. He followed up with a meek and very quiet "I'm really sorry - I guess I'm the stupid doctor."

Anyway, hang in there - It sounds like your new doctors will take much better care of you.

Nova, I love it. LOL If more people would do the same thing maybe some Dr.s would think twice before blowing things off. LOL I did something very simaler to a Dr. of mine years ago. Thank you so much for your prayers. God Bless You and Your family.
