I will be going to a Pump class this Monday. It is for me to sat abreast of anything new. Just to learn. Maybe pass on some tips to newbies going on the Pump.
Do you go to any kind of Diabetes Info or Training classes?

I know that Medtronic MiniMed has something called "Pump School Online" to help people learn more about using the pump… Beyond that, I have not seen many other online resources for "formal" training and education. I have a few questions:

1. How many people have used Pump School Online and for those that have, was it useful?

2. Has anyone come across any other useful online resources for training or education (either general to pump therapy or specific to a manufacturer's pump)?

3. If such a resource did exist, would you use it?

4. If such a resource did exist, what kinds of features, tools, components, and functionalities would you find helpful?

Thank you in advance for any comments or feedback

I am in the process of using a pump, Amimas(PING). Now does that web site show you how to use only that pump, or all. Maybe if I look up Amimous, I could learn there. But my insurance is still making me go through these classes or they won't pay for it…Debe

I went last year at my local hospital and it was very informative, very in depth. Taught me things I did not know and I have been diabetic for 15 years.

I went to some last year and I'm going back on Friday to learn how to take the injections and dietitian. I go when ever it is needed.

I wish that I could find one where I live. It is hard to find a class when you don't belong to a hmo or a ppo. I have a privit doctor so it there are no classes to go to! Penny

I went to Diabetes education class when I was first diagnosed and they have a monthly get together which I was a speaker at occasionally. I don't go to that too much anymore because it the same people all the time and it's like 'preaching to the choir'. The one's that weren't there were the one's that needed to hear what was said. I saw a dietician at first but I knew more than she did from my research so I wouldn't go anymore. LOL (stubborn cuss I am huh?)
