Have you ever had a low glucose count in the morning after breakfast and get panicky, so you take glugose tab. than eat lunch and think you are doing good and find out your glugose after lunch is high. Took 1 u. ins.to bring down and find out before dinner it is still a little high so you take shot before dinner and hope it will be o.k. Now have to take a check to make sure I'm in range. This is really flustrating me all in one day. Ah-h-h-h-h-hh.

I look on the waffle box and figure 10 carbs per unit of fast acting insulin. Started the morning with 10 units of slow acting insulin. The 2 tab. of glucose tabs put me at 110 after tablets. It was fear of dropping that gave me the stupidity to take a dessert (just a sliver of dessert) that put me over. Once I get a low I take care of it but it scares the heck out of me.

Well, Jan, as I understand if low, you should take 15 carbs (look on glucose tabs to see how much each one is) and wait 15 min and take your BG# again. If still low, take another 15 carbs, and test in 15 min. Repeat the cycle until you are at your BG# goal. My bride's endo suggested this way of doing it so she didn't get on the BG roller-coaster.

First you need the book The Calorie King It has it all in the from the bread to vsg even eating out is coverd
I to am a T2 and insulin resistant so by righting down what I eat and how much and yes I used a scale . Each of us are difrent ,for me it's 2 grams of carbs to one unit of insulin so if I eat 30 grams of carbs I need 15 ut of carbs this keeps my BS right in line .Your will be difrent and the only way to know what your ratio is is to keep track of what you eat how much of it you eat and what the carbs are
how much insulin you used and what you needed to cover for the high two hr after you ate It's not hard it just take a little time to get it down
Hope this help

Thank you all. I thought I had it right. Ten carbs to one unit. I'm seeing the diabetic educator tomarrow and I know I will bring it up to her. I was off all day and didn't like it. I have a goal in mind and I want to reach it.
