This is not a YouTube video so I cannot post it in the video section, but if you would like to see some interesting news stories on Aspartame (Neuta Sweet and Equal), this one is pretty good. Of course it is only one side, but take a look and then maybe consider using natural sweeteners such as Stevia in your diabetic menus.
This is only part of the entire DVD.

stevia is a very good sweetner but you have got to use it is small amounts as the more you use the bitterer the taste is and it comes in different flavors as welll. the website for the flavored stevia is www.sweet leaf

I try very hard not to use anything with aspartame in it. I have tried stevia but do not like it. I have splenda on hand but would like to find something else. I do not use much sugar and if I bake I try and use raw sugar. I like jello, especially in the nsummertime, but haven't found sugar free jello without aspartame. Anybody know of such a product?

one reason you might not like the stevia is because with stevia the more one uses the bitterer it is small amounts of stevia go a longway learned that the hard way good luck

You can make your own sugar free jello using knox gelatin and adding the flavors you want to use and the sweetener you like. It might take some experimenting, but you can do it.

Thanks,Gabby, I will try this once I get home. Because of my falling my husband won't let me stay home alone if he's going to be gone more then 2 nites. So while he's ib Miami at a trade show I'm in Orlando with my son and family. Then next week he's in Nashville and I'm in Al. with my other son.I will post the results once I get home and experiment.

I have thought about using sugar free drink powders with knox gelatin to make it, never tried it yet.

There are some sugar free drinks now that are made without aspartame. I think Crystal Lite Pure is made with purvia which is a derivative of stevia, but without the aftertaste.

Thanks, I'll be looking for some. Still have not seen the one Splenda made that the hospitl had in their "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Diabetes" kit. It must have been a test product.

Gabby,What sweetner do you use? Opps Gabby I just read more of your commit. Thanks girlie

I use Stevia mostly. I also use Agave Nectar and even raw sugar in some things. I don't use a lot of sweeteners in my food. So it is mostly when I am baking for the hubby or making my almond milk. Other than that, now that summer is here, the packets will stay on the table. I only sweeten my hot tea in the winter. Ice tea I drink straight.

That is very similar to what happened to me. After I found I was diabetic, I started adding more water to my daily intake, but I was using flavored waters with aspartame in it. I noticed I was feeling not really well. Not bad, but just uncomfortable. When I watched this entire DVD and read the book Sweet Deception, I culled my house of it. Within a week, I felt remarkably better. Have not gone back. I keep it out of the pantry.

After a few trials and errors, I found that Aspartame was the cause of my very painful headaches. I now stick with Splenda, suclose (?sp) and Stevia. I have had no noticible side effects from any of these. So now, I can drink my iced tea with a sweetner. Need a quick glass of iced tea? Make your hot tea add a sweetner if you want, then pour it over a cup of ice. Works well in a pinch. I have also found that caffine is a no-no for me after anout 5:00.
Oh how I wish DC had spell check!
