What a pleasant surprise today. I found Tastycakes in Colorado…that are sugar free. Made it into the shopping cart, through the check out, clear across the parking lot and into the van before I could resist no longer. Much better than any of the other companies make. Only bought 1 box. Next week I'll try one of the other two varieties. Today's choice was the Finger Cakes. Next week will be the chocolate cupcakes. I was too excited to remember number 3. Finding the Tastycakes more than made up for the fact the store doesn't have the Jalepeno Jelly I was looking for.

I live in the heart of Tasty Kake country. HOWEVER, the SF ones I tried had the sugar alcohol Maltitol in them which gives me severe stomach cramps. :( So, I have to suffer through an occasional full sugar one. =}

I pack one of these in Josh's lunch everyday. He enjoys being able to semi eat the same as the other kids and they fit nicely into his carb choices for a treat. He has had all of them and really likes the cookie bars. It beats the sf jello that he maxed out on. He had his fill! lol :)

Harlan, what about going on line to see if you might order them shipped to you up in God's country.

Cost to much and I dont need the carbs lol
But thank you

I hear you. I find it's easier to totally avoid the carbs than to try eating just a little…it's too hard to stop. If northern Maine is God's country, does that make Florida (where I live) the devil's playground???…Love the winters down here but the summers are hellishly hot!

These were at Wally World. Didn't notice them the last time I drooled over the donuts and snack cakes aisle. Maybe you could find them in Maine since I found them way out west here in Colorado.

Nope they are not there I wish they where

I have read about Tastycakes in the Janet Evanovich series about Stephanie Plum. SOme of the books are One For The Money, Two For The Dough, and so on. Stephanie loves Tastycakes. I have a question for you. If the Tastycakes are sugarfree, how are theysweetened? Do they use Aspartame? Saccharin? Acesulfame K? Potassium Sulfame? Some sort of sugar alcohol or maltitol? I ask because most of the artificial sweeteners on the market today I am allergic to. They give me drug-resistant migraines with vertigo. So I have to avoid them. I can have Splenda Truvia and Stevia with no major problems.

wow another Janet Evanovich Fan. Aren't her books a scream. They make me laugh so much I keep having to put the book down, wipe my tears and start over again but its her grandma that cracks me up the most

IDK how the TastyKakes are sweetened, but love the Evanovich series. Reading and laughing - two of my favorite things in one!

They list orange puree and sucralose. I didn't see anyother suger subsitutes in the ingredient list.
Sorry, I just noticed I spelled Tastykakes wrong even though I was staring at the box.

They have sugar alcohol in them which is a type artificial sweetener. Look for ingredients that end -ol like maltitol, xylitol and sorbitol. Just remember, they still contain base ingredients like flour which are just as bad for you as sugar is so you still need to be careful. Often times there is not much difference in the nutritional content of the sugar free and regular versions but there is a very large difference in the price and taste.

Thanks for having me quintuplle check. Finally found the ol. They do have Maltitol. Sorry I missed it when reading it four time last night, even hubby missed it.
Good thing I have an Eye Dr appt the 28th. I have been making way too many reading errors lately.
Since I plan on hubby eating more of them than I do, one more serving over the next week should be OK for me. At least my BG meter has big numbers so I don't read it wrong.

WONDERFUL! I'm glad for you.

But now back to real life for a PWD, what was the carb content for those?

12 gram carbs.

not too bad for a snack, IF you can limit yourself to just "1 serving". (That's one of MY big problems)

your comments make me laugh so much, coz you say exactly what i'm thinking but don't have the courage to voice
