I have been diabetic for over 10 years now. Started out with gestational diabetes with my first son. I have been on Lantus the entire time taking 30 units. I also take Januvia at this point in time. My Ac1 has been below 6 since I started. I have taken many different meds over the years and I've always taken some form of metformin.
I go to the doctors 2 weeks ago and he said the was taking me off the metformin part. WHY? I now am up to 55 units of lantus and still climbing.
I had just gotten a 3 month supply of ACTOS when he changed it to JANUMET..I got a 3 month supply of that and he cjhanged it to Januvia. What do I do with all the extra pills I have? Do es he not know how much these pills cost? I have big co-pays

I also get samples or just a one month supply to see if it works! Then order three month supply when I know I'm going to keep taking it.

That's just a lack of common sense from the doctor. They should offer you samples of any new brand name drug they want you to try to make sure you don't waste money if there is a chance it may not work out for you. You should bring that up in future if you get another med change.
