I love to go shopping, crochet, watch dvd's, work on my photo albums, I LOVE my IPOD and searching for good exercise music. I play games on the Pogo site, walk 45 minutes 5 days a week. I just try to stay busy, then I don't spend all my time thinking about the fact that I have diabetes.

I love photography, I use a Fuji S5200 digital and an old Canon AE1 program. I also do metal detecting when my legs permit.

I agree it is always in your thoughts. I don't know what I would do without my online friends. I literally have no friends here. My BFF moved to Tn and my Sister moved to NC.

I am very active in American Association of University Women. This national group is changing its structure to allow membership to anyone who agrees with the Mission of advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. We have a lot of fun, mostly.

I also read, travel, and enjoy natural history. My book shleves are filled with nature guides, and my husband teases me about how many bird books I have. I do not watch TV, but enjoy Netflix for movie rentals.

Debe,
When I decided that I was really going to get into it I bought the program Family Tree Maker. You start with yourself, then your parents and grandparents. There are several different genealogy site on the net that can help, you do usually have to join thou.
God Bless,
Jackie

How far are you now with your family tree? How Long have you been doing this? Years ago I work at the Public Library and we had at least 20 people come in weekly and sit for hours looking up for others. Do you get relaxed doing this?

I think I started back in 93 or 94. When I started it was suppose to be both my husband's side and mine. It's ended up being more on my side than his. But I was lucky to have several different family genealogies that I was able to put them together. Right now I believe I have between 40, 000 to 45, 000 people, but that's with all the different family branches way back to Europe some back to the 1400 century. Yes it is very relaxing, and my family knows not to bug me when I am doing that, as I'm in my own little world.

Family Tree Maker is great. It's reasonably priced, fun, and gives a short-term subscription to Ancestry.com. I suggest not registering the FTM until you have entered all your immediate familial knowledge so you have a feel of the program, and then use the free genealog stuff first, before you use ancesrty.com in order to get the most value.

This is something I have wanted to do for a while. My grandparents had a good family tree for that side of the family but I'd like to get my mothers side as well as both sides of my wifes. The problem is to do that I have to go the more expensive route because I need the international subscriptions. I'll give the Family Tree Maker a look.
