I am so glad I found this site shortly after being diagnosed. I was at such a loss about this disease and how it would affect my life, but I have found so many helpful and friendly people on here. I feel I have a very good doctor. He is an internist, but he has been my primary for many many years and I value his advise so I opted not to pursue an endocrinologist and so far I have opted not to contact the Registered Dietitian he gave me the number to. I have opted not to contact these additional medical resources at this time because I feel that with his advise and treatment we have my Diabetes under control (as evidenced by my having come off insulin on day 40 and now managing it with Metformin, diet & exercise).
But even as good as my doctor is . . . nothing compares to having access to so much input from a personal perspective - that is where the great value of the my friends here on DC comes in. My doctor doesn't have Diabetes, My Diabetic Connect Family does (or is caregiver to someone who has Diabetes). My doctor may know the clinical issues I face with Diabetes, but my friends here know the personal issues I face with Diabetes.
I have found some much that has helped me understand and address my Diabetes from all the friendly and helpful people on here. And for that I just want to say Thank You to EVERYONE - for ALL the wisdom and first hand experiences shared here for me and others. You are all a great inspiration and greatly appreciated.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
