I have type 1 and a pump. I'm just about eleven and I am scared to put in a pump site! I've tried to do it but I'm WAY too scared! What should I do?

Mine is a One Touch Ping. Very small and mulitple colors. Also controlled by the meter so its cool. They had an instructor meet with me to go over every step and once I demonstrated it well, thats all it took. You might just be a little nervous about the long needle. I found that as long as its aligned straight that there is little pain (but I've been diabetic almost 40 years. Once every few days beats 4-5 daily by a long shot). I don't trust anyone else with a needle anymore, not even medical people. I also go fairly slow, which surprises most people because they think its easier fast. I disagree, slower you can line things up better.

I just recently switched from a quick-set to a sure-t and the sure-t is much easier to use. I never feel it going in. Have you gone to the on-line classes that are on the minimed.com? Check them out. They will answer any questions you may have. I know that first time I inserted my inset I was also scared. But it got easier.Good luck to you and keep positive. You'll do fine.

Did it come with a quik setter ?
It is hard to do it from the start but after a short time it gets to be a little thing

Didn't they spend some time showing you how to do it? Call your doctor and ask for some help with that. From what people have shared here who are on the pump, it is not much more of a sting than an insulin shot and you only have to do it once every few days. Sounds like a winner to me.

There are many pump users here on the site. I am sure someone can give you the encouragement and little tips to help. Here are some videos that have some questions and answers. I don't know if they show you how to use one though. http://www.diabeticconnect.com/videos?query=insulin+pump&by=relevancy
