Hello ,, I was wondering how can a person gain weight if they are a diabetic?
I am 6' 1" and weigh 190lbs. Before I was diagnosed I was 220lbs. I really do not feel good at this weight and would love to put some on but I do not know how to do it. I have gotten to the point where that I am loosing my taste for foods because I am so limited. It seems like everything makes my blood sugar skyrocket. I can't even eat a small cup of oatmeal in the morning without waiting 5 hours before the level comes back down. (Very frustrated).
Is there anyone who you can talk to about this kind of problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. I have been a diabetic for 2 yeras now and take 500 metformin in morning and 1000 in evening.

Wow, wish I had your problem. Since becoming a T2 12 years ago I've gained 45 pounds, 20 of it in the last four years since going on insulin. Try eating a lot of peanut butter, this puts the weight on me.

Hi and welcome to DC family, you need to see your doctor, he might need to change your meds. I have been a diabetic for almost 3 years i take 1000mg of metformin 2x a day and 15 units of insulin a day. How are your doing eating things?

One thing to try is drink three or four glasses of water before each meal. You can put more green vegs on plate a green salad before meal or fruit like strawberrys or any of the berrys.
