Chances are that Granma in her shopping days would not have recognized all the candy coated fruit snacks, granola bars with chocolate/marshmellows and frozen french toast. But she would recognize fresh fruits/vegetables, meat/poultry, fish and other whole foods in their natural state. So do you buy bananas, instead of banana flavored puddings, pork cutlets over hot dogs or fresh bagged spinanch or spinanch that is fat laden in an over salted sauce?
Have you checked out your processed foods?

There's no doubt that there have been many changes in our foods both processed and not processed over the past generations. We have become used to adding the high fructose corn syrup, pesticides, growth hormones, and artificial this and that to just about everything we have on the store shelves and in restaurants today.

I don't know if I am of the grandmother (or grandfather) age you're referring to but even I can see food differences from my childhood to teen years to adult life in regards to food and non-food purchases. … and they are drastic!
