What is everyone going to give out for a treat?

Pennies. No treats that could end up in my house to tempt me. And I am dressing up as a clown in a costume that should no longer fit me as it will be too big.

Being on a limited income because I am disabled and diabetic. I tend to be frugal in all things. I give out inexpensive little toys and activity books I get at Wal Mart. I put one small piece of hard candy and a couple of small toys in a halloween baggy and tape a pencil to the back. Most of the kids seem to like it. If you want to save money go shopping for slashed prices on halloween items after halloween for next year, Thats what I do. We get lots of tricker treaters.

Hello, HAPPY HALLOWEEN Everyone. I have only given out pennys, nickles, or dimes for the past 35 years. I raised kids and hated the candy part as diabetes ran on both sides of the families and the risk of maybe causing tooth decay or active diabetic problems did not set well with me. It was just my thing that is all. IF when the children got home with their candy and wanted to had it out to the later group that came around in those days they could—did not mind not having that candy in the house lol. Anyhow the children enjoyed the jingle of the change so it is still what I do. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy HALLOWEEN. May God Bless All

This is an interesting thought to ponder…My kids still both trt and I had not put much thought into it. I do agree that most kids are getting enough junkfood every day and I do not want to contribute-might look at oriental trading post, also thought about a healthy snack-I better get a move on it is only a few weeks away-

I sometimes order Halloween items from places such as Oriental Trading and don't give out candy. This went over amazingly well with the kids. This year, I got fruit roll up and gummy "somethings". I don't like those snacks and won't be tempted to eat them. I have to keep chocolate candy out of the house!

We've ordered little giveaway items from Oriental Trading--little toys or something.

It's a struggle. Our T1 son is too old for trick-or-treating. And our younger kids aren't diabetic. So we don't make as big a deal out of it as we used to.

But no matter what, we severely limit how much candy they can eat. They get to pick out a few favorites and then they give the rest to the "Great Pumpkin" who trades them for a gift.

we live in a neighbor-hood where most of the children have their big party at school. No-one has come to our house in the 11yrs. that we have lived here. When I lived in a suburb we gave out boxs of rasins ,and apples .

We usually don't get any Halloweener's. To long of a walk to our door. We usually go over my cousins and watch all the kids come to their house.

No, this is not John, it is his son Cameron. My Dad likes to give things like apples, or homemade popcorn balls made with air popped corn, and low carb ingredients. Other times, he gave out home made granola bars and rice crispy treats.

Many parents (me included) to not like unwrapped gifts for my children as there are some nuts out there who do terrible things such as razors in apples. Therefore, I do the cheapest thing: pennies. Never had a complaint.

NO offense, but I'm surprised that some parents don't get upset with you about the homemade things. I will NOT allow my child to eat anything she gets for halloween that is homemade…great concept, but tooooo many loonies out there. Now if it was someone I knew very well then maybe, but other than that…Mommy is the candy Gastopo, and won't let her touch it until I inspect.

My girls are 26 and 33…and even when they were TorTing I would never have let them eat homemade treats! For the last couple years we have given out the specialty Halloween bags of pretzels…1/2 oz…50 cal @bag..Don have to worry about peanut allergy, chocolate. And if we have them left over we can eat them!

Dad put everything in small baggies with his name, address, and phone number on it so everyone knew where it came from. Plus, we live in a small town, and everyone knows each other, and one of the parents is always walking with the kids to observe who is passing out what.

now see that is a good idea…I'm from a small town originally myself…I refer to it as Mayberry…

We just usually give them a good scare! We love to hear the boys scream like little girls...mwaaaahaaaa.

This will be my first Halloween as a diabetic. I had not thought about what to give the little darlings. I will have to ponder that. We like being the cool house at the end of the street...don't want to change that too much.

I don't do Halloween either. There are too many fat kids in the US they don't need bags full of free candy. I just go away too.. LOL
