I just wanted to share my good new with everyone here. I just got back from my doctor and my A1C went from a 7.2 to 5.5. How GREAT is that?!!!! YAY!!! I am so proud of myself and I want to thank everyone here for their help, support, friendship and education. THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! :). I am 70 lbs. lighter now. I walk everyday for 1 hr. I eat low carb meals. Eating low carb has helped me tremendously. I don't eat fruits, except for strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. What has helped my very much are the supplements Vanadium Sulfate and Alpha Lipoic Acid. They help lower your BS. I don't take my medicine (pill) anymore.

Just wanted to share my good news and also share what works for me as far as lowering BS. Might work for some of you, hopefully it works for everyone!!

I am happy as a clam!!!

Have a blessed and great day everyone!!! Love you all!!

I am hoping you will. Feels sooooo good not to depend on meds. Once you stop the med, you will feel back in control of your health and yourself. It's a great feeling.

Thank you MewElla!! Yes TONS of hard work!!! LOL!!! Wasn't easy in the beginning but now it's habit. I do not crave junk food as much as I used to luckily. Every once in a blue moon I treat myself to pizza or go to the Olive Garden. As a matter of fact… I tried Carl's Jr.'s Turkey Burger and it was delicious!! I don't know how many carbs in it… Just treated myself to it. It's not something I will have everyday. I make my own turkey burgers at home and they are YUMMY!!! Thanks again and God Bless You!! :)

Howdy Elizabeth!

That's FANTASTIC news! Congratulations!

I have been taking ALA now for a while.
Haven't heard of Vanadium Sulfate. I would like to know about this and what level dosage worked well for you? Also the same for the ALA. How much did you normally take and how did you take it?

Please don't be a stranger here! We might learn something useful from you!

Blessings to you and yours!

James

Hi James! I take 100mg of Vanadyl Sulfate. The recommended dosage is 45-100mg a day. I take it after my meals. I do not snack at all. Snacking is bad for me. I just have my three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner and hardly eat any breads. The only breads I eat are whole wheat or dark rye bread. Breads hike my sugar and these two are the ones that don't make my sugarl levels skyrocket. I usually have bread twice a week. I discovered these amazing whole wheat mini bagels… I LOVE THEM. I have them for breakfast w/a little reduced fat or light cream cheese. They are awesome!! Hope this helps you!! Thank you again, for your response, it is appreciated. Take care and talk to you later!

Thanks for your reply Elizabeth!
You say you take it after your meals (plural?) Does this mean you take 100 after each meal or 100 for the whole day?

I got curious enough about Vandadyl sulfate to do a search engine search on it. This seems to be a credible article about it: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/ans/psychology/heal...
and this one: http://www.disability-resource.com/diabetes/v...

And what about the ALA? How much do you take and what is your dosing schedule?

Your response is very much appreciated.

I am sorry. I didn't specify. I take Vanadyl twice a day. After Breakfast and after dinner. As far as the ALA I the recommended dose is 200-600mg. I take 200mg. You will have to test it out. For example, when I first started taking Vanadyl, I thought taking a little more than 100 mg. would do me good (took twice the dosage, stupid me!! I was ignorant) and would reduce my BS but OMG!! Big mistake!!! My sugar went way too low, did not feel good at all. So I only take 100mg. a day.

Thanks Elizabeth!

I think I will try the Vanadyl and see what happens. I suspect I'll have to watch my insulin, so I don't go too low?

As far as the ALA, I understand that can take quite some time to feel the effects on my neuropathy.

Just don't do what I did…overdose. Yes, start low. Begin by taking 45mg and see what happens. Like you mentioned, you might, with time, have to decrease your insulin intake. I pray and hope this pans out for you! Yes you are right. ALA does take time but it sure does work! :)
