Perhaps you could take a baseling Blood glucose reading ("BG"), let him eat something he wants and after about 1 hr, take his BG# again. Show him how what he eats affects his BG#s and how he feels.

I don't know how else to get that across to him without scaring him.

I will give that some more thought and will be back to post should I think of something.

That age, up till about age 30, unfortunately, kids of either gender think of themselves as indestructable. And often they want what they want even if it may not be good for them.

BTW, if he's 10, I am taking for granted he's a t1. The usual treatment for a t1 is insulin. What pills is Danny on?

Blessings to you and yours

hi! thanks for your reply his endocrinologist diagnosed him as T2 he is on Metformin and he's got a lot of questions for u …how come u think he's t1? and what does that mean?…they did the bloodwork Ac1 and he showed a high resistance to insulin in the 400's he is starting to get serious about it the scare worked and we are controlling portions and carbs and fats which is interesting because his older brother Gaby has Autism and very limited diet and they both got diagnosed with Mitochondrial myopathy a genetic for of MD so I/m trying to digest and find a way to tackle all of the above.
