Well Unfortunetly last week I started to feel really ill ..I was doing so very well with my blood sugars dropping to the normal and then I got very ill. I went to the ER …with extreme right lower quardraint pain. It was the most excrutiating pain I have ever felt in my life. They gave me some pain meds via IV and did a CTSCAN and told me they couldn't see anything. I was sent home last monday diagnosed with ACUTE BELLY PAIN.Their way of saying it was all in my head. Boy were they wrong.
So the I went another day in pain that Tuesday I have extreme diaharea that was nothing but liquid. Then I started to experience some nausea and I thought maybe it is my appendix and they just didn't catch other half being as stubborn as he is refused to take me back to the doctor because he was told there was nothing they could do for me. So I waited another night over into Wednesday and the next morning I woke up from not sleeping since sunday and was so weak I told my other half to take me to the hospital NOW!
Once again i got another CT SCAN and they still couldn't figure it out…I was still in so much pain (and still am) that they admitted me to the hopsital. Doctors upon doctors came in talking to me and a team was formed to figure this out.
I then started to vomitt non stop I was weaker then when I got there and could barley help myself. Eventually they were giving me ZOPHRANE for to calm it down and that wasn't helping on top of the vommitting i was still experiencing pain and diaharea.
So Thursday came and went Friday a GI doctor came in and told me they would be taking me to get an upper Gi SCOPE done never having one before i started to feel so frightened and thought what if they find something worse then what it should be. ? Well they took me for the scope and they first told me that if i would have waited much longer I wouldn't be here. I have a VIRAL INFECTION in my large intestine that is traveling its way through both tracts. They can only give me antibiotics by IV and keep me hydrated. So today is now tuesday and I have been on a liquid diet since last week.
They have stopped all of my Diabetic Medications until Further notice. So glad to be home today..have to go back daily but i have to put new antibiotics on myself until Monday and then if my blood work comes back better then i will go to oral antibiotics this has been one of the scariest things i have ever had to go through in my life…Put on bed rest for 30 days so i have my collection of books and writing utensils to get me through..

glad to hear they found out too. wow, that is very scary, I would have been too. I hope it clears up completely soon and you don't ever have that again. Think they waited too long to do that upper GI though. Seems like they should have found out sooner, or not sent you home when they did the first time but insurance of course could have played a part in that.

Glad you persisted and got back to the hospital and they found out what was happening in time. Infections can be horrible to deal with. Definetly keep drinking water and keep rested. Enjoy the chance to get a lot of reading and writing done. Remember being on bed rest means someone else gets to do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry…My other half is happy I eventually got to released from bed rest. I, on the other hand, misss havng an excuse to get out of laundry duty.

Wow Amber! What a scary thing. Glad to hear you are getting better. I have a scope next week for some kind of narrowing or blockage in my upper gi tract. Somewhere near the duodenum. Very nervous as to what they may find. Anyone else experience these problems? I wonder if this has something to do with my diabetes. I also have stomach pain and the runs like water after I eat.

same symptoms as me it could be a viral infection of some sort or could be ulcers that are bleeding..just drink lots of clear liquids between now and then..and less dairy products and if you start to feel sick go in right away…the scope goes so fast they put you to sleep and you don't remember any of it. let me know how it goes the only thing i got a soar throat ..they say its natrual. if the tract is narrowing they can do medicine to correct it..but the runs is because your food isn't digesting and the fluids are the only thing getting through is there any mucas in the bowel movement?
