well I have not been on here in a few…a lot has been going on. First we really picked up at work so I try to get as much OT as I can. Used a lot of my "tooth fairy fund" for my surgery but this r3ecent OT will really help me get it back. I am still looking forward to haveing them out. Wish it was sooon but april 28th is good! I which some of you know live with my parents and take care of them. Well my dad had I guess I will call it picked off a calcus…it was half way off anyway but NEVER EVER EVER do this!!!!! Specially being a diabetic. He had an appt today to get his super sore foot checked. To make a REALLY long story short he had to have part of his foot removed and some tendons in his foot. Now he seen a doc mar 7th who did NOT checked his sore foot he complaned about. He also was seen by this place called a wound clinic which they cleaned and covered this spot. But failed to tell the doc when they called just how bad it was!! Needless to say this could of been prevented if the first doc mar 7th looked as his darn foot…or if the wound clinic had said how nasty it really was…oh the other hand my Dad could of went to the ER but because I took him in last May and all hell broke loose for him he was too scared. I am so drained today. My Mom has also been ill so the last few weeks have been very hard on me. But I am stiill haveing my teeth out and if needed gonna do the weight loss surgery towards the end of the year…only if needed. We will see how things progress with no nasty teeth to slow me down

My Dads foot is HORRIBLE…they are doing another surgery today to maybe take more off. He is in the cath lab right now having an angiogram…might get a stent then its off to the operatering room to see what the doc will do next. I am amazed at how much you have going on in your life right now, between taking care of your parents and taking care of your own health. I can understand why you are feeling so drained right now. Still, you are a very strong person.

Glad to hear that you are getting OT, and that you are taking care of your dental work. As you probably know, it is really important for the caregiver to take care of herself!

Stay in touch with us and keep us posted, and let us give you whatever support we can as you go through this.

Hi. I'm new here, but sure am learning a LOT about the struggles we all share. In my experience with MDs, I find you have to TELL them to look at this or that. Otherwise they don't. With T1 or T2 it's scary when ANYTHING hurts. I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's foot. Also… a woman in her early 60's I know had the gastric by-pass almost 2 years ago and she told me, "As soon as they cut the whatever she called it, and the surgery was finished, her BG instantly became normal. Another friend said she was no longer diabetic after the same surgery. No one but you can determine whether or not to have any surgery, but it may be a good thing if you seriously talk to others who have had the gastric bypass. The responsibility on you after the surgery is significant: eating tiny bites and not very much at one sitting, etc. can be a huge learning curve. I know three people personally who have been done that. They all are very glad they did, although it took a while for each to adjust completely. Meanwhile, don't stay away. We need you as much as you need us. We support each other. Yes?

You have very full hands! What ways do you find to relax and enjoy some free time? YOU are as important as those you love and care for each day. Take care of you. You are the only one of you we have!

Remember, one day at a time. Take a deep breath and don't neglect your dental health.

Sometimes you need to step back take a breather ,just know that you need to take care of you too if you dont then who will take care of your famly then?
You may need to take a little time and get a rub-down take a steam bath things that will make you feel better .

Good to see you back. Sorry you are enduring so much. I always seems to come in big batches. I look at it this way. I get it all out of the way at once and when I survive that, I am ready for other things that don't seem to be such a big deal. Hope things work out with the parents, they are the hardest to take care of as children. They see you as kids, and you see them as the new kids...it gets interesting. LOL
