So, I'm about to add my first child to my car insurance. He happens to have diabetes. (I think I know the answer to this question, but I've been enjoying my state of denial :-). Do people with diabetes have to pay more for car insurance too?

I have never paid more for being diabetic. My husband and I both are diabetic.I guess if the Insurance companies decide to ask about health problems then we could pay more.I read that Ala. state employees will have to pay more for health ins. if they are obese. So I guess anything is possible.

My daughter is diabetic and when we renewed her insurance they diidn't ask any health questions. But when I was found to have all these other conditions the Doctor notified motor vech. and I was
suspended for life.

You have to tell the DMV about his diabetes because if you don't and he gets in an accident insurance doesn't have to pay out. As far as the insurance goes you don't have to tell them about the diabetes nor are you required to. So insuring his should be just as costly as any other 16 year old.

23 years with T1. 13 with car insurance. Nothing in my application or paperwork has anything to do with my health. I have a great agent and she knows I am Diabetic. I have a good record and review my 6 month update each time, all about the car. ;-)
