Diabetic Friendly Snacks

I am trying to find some snacks i can eat that wont raise my blood sugar or snacks i have to take very little insullin for. If you have any ideas anything will be greatly appriciated.

I've been snacking on nuts, sunflower seeds, sugar free puddings (You can freeze sugar free pudding for pudding pops when it's hot out) and fiber bars as well as veggies and some fruits. Be careful with fruit though as it still has sugar in it and can affect your blood sugars.

I've used diabetes as an excuse to try every little thing that looks like it might be yummy. I've always loved food and cooking so this is my new reason to break out of my rut and try new things when I see them.

It really helped me to go to the store one day with no intention of buying anything and just looking at everything and reading labels. I found all sorts of things I never knew were at my local store and I got to really see how much I don't have to give up.

I use yogurt,string cheese, raw veggies, fresh fruit these all make excellent snacks.
If you use something with more carbs just remember to add protein for balance.
I hope you find snacks you enjoy and that fit your program.

I have only been to 2 classes for my diabetes, but I was told- nuts are good for us, they have lots of carbs- walnuts. I was told to eat only half a cup. Never to eat in front of the tv, and get about 6 grapes out of the bag, b/c before you know it, the bag will be gone, and sugar spikes. a half of a banana. I think our diet is suppose to be protein, fat, carbs. Just watch out for carbs. A bottle of juice is a meal for us, that's so unfair. I like grape juice. My last class will be about food, and I will try to let you know, what I find out- and if it can be useful for you. I go Friday, if they don't cancel and reschedule again.
