I have seen a few members of late share that they are Brittle Type 1's. This has to be one of the hardest things to deal with from my understanding of it. I am a type 2 and get frustrated, but it would in no way compare to what a brittle diabetic must endure.

I would like to have a discussion that shares this rare and complicated aspect of diabetes with everyone. To share what it really means to you and how you face each day with it. I know a little, but it is mostly "book" knowledge. You guys live with it every day. Please share with us your story to encourage those who struggle with it.

Brittle diabetics are not just t1s. The term had been used of my "Jem" who was a t2. She could be OK with her BG#s for a while, then suddenly she would spike or drop like a rock. Sometimes it was very scary for us.

I have no idea whether it was one of those low BGs or some other of her "medical challenges" which took her. Probably never will.
