August 28, 2008 6:07 PM Just my kind of book! I think it is great that not all the recipes call for artificial sweetners. What a concept! ![]() |

August 13, 2008 3:26 AM I agree with Angie, There are times that we all want to feel "normal", and would like to be able to serve a desert that can be shared by the entire group around the table. Just because we choose to own a desert recipe book, does not mean we are turning back to our old habits and ways. Toma, I am very happy that you have the conviction to completely ignore such things, however myself, I like to on occassion partake in some type of desert. |

August 12, 2008 8:34 PM Not every cookbook will have the nutrition information, unfortunately. And, yes, we should be able to control some of the food cravings or urges we get at times. However, there are times when we should be able to simply have something we like. This book does have those recipes. After we monitor ourselves, and try new ways to eat, we can identify those things and change what is needed for our own uses. Every nutritionist I have met with or talked with tell me this. |

August 12, 2008 4:21 PM This book does not have anywhere on the internet that allows us to scan or in any way review the contents. I am immediately suspicious of a "diabetic dessert cookbook" ADA is notorious about saying it is ok to use sugar, highly processed foods and they seem to have no concept of inflammatory foods which is one red flag I look for in all recipes. Artificial sweeteners need to be used with care as they tend to trigger cravings for other high glycemic carbs. I would love to see some of the recipes. What little I can find about this book suggests to me that they contain the inflammatory foods and are not properly optimized for good diabetic control. The idea that we have to have deserts I think is counter productive to changing to the healthiest foods available to us. ![]() |
