The Diabetic Athlete is the only book on the market that gives athletes and dedicated fitness enthusiasts with type 1 and type 2 diabetes the practical tips they need to manage their diabetes better while training and competing for performance. Written by Dr. Sheri Colberg, a diabetic athlete with a PhD in exercise physiology, and endorsed by Dr. Edward Horton, a leading diabetes expert, The Diabetic Athlete provides examples from hundreds of diabetic athletes who share their experiences from sports and fitness training. Colberg analyzes their experiences and provides practical advice on blood sugar balance, nutrition, and exercise for diabetics who want to pursue normal and active athletic lives. No other book gives so many sport-specific recommendations to help diabetics safely pursue the activities they enjoy. The Diabetic Athlete will appeal to any physically active person with type 1 or type 2 diabetes as well as the coaches and health and fitness professionals who work with them.

Excellent book that breaks down the physiological ways exercise and food may affect blood sugars. Includes recommendations for glucose control based on type of exercise.
